About the team Zillow is actively seeking outstanding research interns across the fields of computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, econometrics, or a related scientific field involving mathematical modeling to join several of our machine learning teams across Zillow for the summer of 2020. Machine Learning has huge impacts across virtually all of Zillow’s business lines, and as an embedded member of one of these teams you will have the opportunity to apply groundbreaking research techniques to high-stakes business problems. About the role Zillow Group’s Growth AI team helps customers discover the right home through relevant & delightful product experiences and messaging. We power these experiences through a deep understanding of our customers and the homes they love! Our team uses machine learning to serve up personalized content and power a variety of personalized customer touchpoints, including email and push notification messaging. As an intern on the Growth AI team, your work may focus on improving the existing ML pipelines, developing new model features, or even building brand-new ML models to further improve the relevance and impact of our personalized results.The Search and Conversational AI Team is responsible for the full search stack from auto complete to query understanding to retrieval and ranking. Our focus is to develop semantic and conversational search that can process natural language queries about real estate and assist users in finding a property that meets their unique needs. We develop NLP, conversational, and ranking platforms for search using innovative deep learning and LTR technologies. We are a lean team that believes in innovation, collaboration, accountability, and transparency! As an intern, you will have the opportunity to: * Collaborate with other Applied Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers to conduct innovative applied research* Find insights in diverse datasets and use those signals by applying and developing pioneering machine learning and statistical techniques.* Work closely with machine learning engineers to learn how to productionalize and ship those models.* Develop new techniques, contribute to writing papers and or blog posts to show off your novel work, giving back to the larger Machine Learning community.In Colorado, the standard pay range for this role is $60,000.00 - $145,000.00 Annually. This range is specific to Colorado and may not be applicable to other locations. Who you are An ideal candidate for either of these roles will be:* Excited to look for insights in data and conduct feature engineering to use those signals in new ML and statistical models* Proficient at using algorithms for supervised or unsupervised learning with a curiosity about contributing to and extending open source libraries* In the process of completing a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics, or a related scientific subject area involving mathematical modeling (preferred)* Able to draw from past experience applying machine learning to big data* Able to conduct research, assimilate innovative methods from research papers, and turn product requirements into algorithmic solutions.* Able to clearly present and communicate research to both technical and non-technical audiences* Able to work on a team in a collaborative environment to tackle ambitious machine learning problems* Experienced working in Python to conduct detailed data analysis, visualization, and modeling* Experience in big data processing using PySpark Get to know us Zillow is reimagining real estate to make it easier to unlock life’s next chapter.
