Summer 2017 Junior Tour Operations Internship
The Northern Texas PGA is seeking 15 qualified applicants for a 13-week field internship position in golf tournament operations during the summer of 2017. Successful applicants will be responsible for helping conduct all day-to-day operations of our summer Junior Tour. The Junior Tour provides daily golf tournaments throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex for junior golfers ages 7-19.
Responsibilities:
On-site responsibilities such as registration, tee set-up, starting, rules officiating, scoring, and awards presentations
Effectively communicate with parents, juniors, and host professional staff
Reconciliation of financial and result summaries
Manage Company equipment inventory and maintenance
Provide occasional in-office support of Junior Tour programming
Enjoy working with children and young adults ages 7-19
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Organized, punctual, energetic, and a self-starter
Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team based environment
Detail oriented
General computer knowledge (Microsoft Office)
Basic knowledge of the game of golf
Rules of Golf knowledge a plus
Automobile access with willingness and ability to travel within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex required
Interest in a career in golf or sports administration is preferred
College degree (or working towards a degree) required
Must have existing insurance through school or parents
Work early mornings, public speaking, detail oriented, basic knowledge of the game of golf
The Northern Texas PGA is one of the 41 sections that comprise The PGA of America. The Northern Texas PGA has a professional membership of more than 850. Our geographic territory includes the State of Texas north of the 31st latitude, or just north of Austin. In addition to managing the day-to-day affairs of the Section, the headquarters operates the Northern Texas PGA Junior Golf Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. The Junior Golf Foundation provides The PGA golf professional an opportunity to impact the game in a most important and lasting fashion. Active involvement with junior golf is, indeed, an opportunity to promote and teach this game of a lifetime to the youth of our communities.
