    The Opportunity

    We are looking for a research engineer/scientist with expertise in neural graphics, generative AI, 3D geometry, modern Python platform engineering, computer graphics, computer vision, a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration, and a drive to build creative tools rooted in customer empathy. Together we will design and implement fundamentally new technologies that democratize 3D workflows and create delightful and powerful 3D tools.

    You will be a key driver of innovation, initiating and managing research collaborations that push the state-of-the-art forward . You will also be a champion of robust and sustainable engineering practices as you transfer new technologies into 3D products . You will be working in a customer-focused research engineering team, to deliver technical innovations with high visibility that will reach millions of creatives .

    All 2024 Adobe interns will be ‘co-located hybrid. This means that interns will be assigned to an Adobe office location, but in-office schedules will be flexible and determined by team . All interns must live in the same state, country, and within commuting distance of their assigned Adobe office so they can be on-site as needed.

    What You’ll Do

    • Develop 3D reconstruction and generation pipelines based on neural graphics and 3D GenAI techniques, optimizing both performance and quality .

    • Build and contribute to shared technology platforms that accelerate machine learning research and development, including data pipelines, datasets, distributed compute infrastructure, and deployment engines.

    • Write robust, high-performance code. Identify and fix bugs and performance bottlenecks .

    • Identify , explore, invent, and develop new technologies for Adobe’s 3D products to provide approachable, delightful, and powerful experiences for Adobe’s customers.

    • Partner with research labs and product teams across Adobe to co-develop those new technologies in a transdisciplinary, cross-functional way .

    • Define technical roadmaps for large-scale projects, where you will coordinate and work with research scientists, artists, designers, and product engineers to architect, develop, optimize , ship, and maintain novel technologies that set Adobe apart .

    • Support the evaluation of new technologies by

    • working with artists and product managers to define quantitative and qualitative metrics for success .

    • contributing to tech transfer pipeline tools that streamline evaluation processes .

    • building prototypes as needed .

    • scaffolding researchers in their efforts to build prototypes .

    What You Need to Succeed

    • Currently enrolled full time and pursuing a PhD degree in Computer Science, with a focus on computer graphics, computer vision, or machine learning preferred

    • 3+ years of applied research

    • Ability to participate in a full time internship between May-September

    • Deep knowledge of modern Python 3 design patterns

    • Basic knowledge of C++

    • A solid grasp of machine learning architectures and an ability to implement algorithms from the research literature

    • A solid grasp of the fundamentals of machine learning and experience with one or more training or deployment environments ( PyTorch , CoreML , WinML , ONNX Runtime)

    • Customer empathy and a passion for creating delightful experiences

    • Experience writing cross-platform code

    • Experience in building, profiling, debugging, and testing complex systems

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this positionis $45.00 -- $61.00 hourly. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay rate for your job location during the hiring process.
