POSITION INFORMATION Role Summary The Pre-Employment & Badging Specialist conducts pre-employment screening including drug and nicotine testing and fingerprinting; badge printing and distribution is also a critical component of this role. Scope & Complexity * This position supports a moderately complex Pre-Employment Screening Process and Company Badging and Facility Access Program for Alaska Air Group and its subsidiary companies (Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air) Key Duties and Responsibilities The duties and responsibilities of this position are critically important in supporting the overall Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air onboarding process, as well as ensuring compliance with all company policies and CFRs (Code of Federal Regulations), TSA regulations, and US Postal Service contract requirements related to pre-employment screening. * Conducts applicable pre-employment testing based on role * Performs both DOT and non-DOT drug and alcohol testing * Makes determinations, based on regulatory guidance, as to specimen validity based on physical factors and donor actions * Enforces direct-observation specimen collections as required * Determines when to declare a 'refusal to test' based on regulatory parameters; reports occurrences to Designated Employer Representative (DER) * Conducts nicotine screening according to company policy * Collects fingerprints as needed for crew badging, port IDs, USPS screening, etc. * Reviews fingerprint FBI reports (criminal history record checks, CHRCs); escalates to Legal for review if needed * Issues and/or ensures issuance of all new hire and existing employee badges * Processes ID photos and prints new hire badges * Manages collection of replaced/expired badges * Documents, communicates, and escalates access security issues to appropriate parties * Partners with Corporate Security on the addition of new area access-control requirements * Stays current on all company policies, CFRs (Code of Federal Regulations), TSRs, IATA and IOSA regulations related to issuance, control and auditing of ID and access control media. Job-Specific Skills (years of experience, key knowledge, skills & abilities) Required * A minimum of 2 years of experience in a service-oriented role. * Demonstrated (moderate) computer skills including: working with database programs, online information tracking, basic troubleshooting and intuitive processing * Demonstrated skills in the following areas: security, compliance, communication, risk management, customer service, problem solving, conflict resolution, project management. * Adeptness at relationship-building with various levels of leadership across all divisions. * A self-starter who takes initiative in finding solutions to difficult and unique problems and/or opportunities. * The ability and willingness to travel within the US and to Canada and Mexico, with occasional overnight stays. * Minimum age of 18. * Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred * Working knowledge of OnGuard or other access management systems. * Working knowledge of Alaska Airlines' and Horizon Air's Drug & Alcohol policies, 49 CFR Part 40, 14 CFR Part 121 and TSA directives regarding employee IDs, fingerprinting and CHRCs.
