POSITION INFORMATION Role Summary The Dispatcher leads the safe conduct of operational control concerning the planning, dispatch, release, and movement of all Company aircraft over the routes under their control. Scope & Complexity This individual contributor role performs dispatch duties for Alaska Airlines. Key Duties * Briefs crews during preflight and updates as necessary in regard to current weather, Notice to Airman (NOTAMS), and field conditions. * Distributes flight plans and flight releases, rerouting flight as necessary, and calculating appropriate fuel loads. * Coordinates with maintenance department in regard to maintenance and Minimum Equipment List (MELs) following flights. * Executes all assigned flight operations in compliance with Federal Air Regulation (FARs) and Company policy and procedures. * Ensures the information necessary to perform flight dispatch duties is available and current at the start of each shift. * Other duties as assigned. Job-Specific Skills & Education Required * A minimum 1 year of airline operations experience. * Possession of a valid FAA Aircraft Dispatcher's Certificate. * Sound working knowledge of applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, weather, and technical dispatch skills. * Successful completion of all ground/flight training requirements and level of proficiency for Dispatchers as specified in the Company Training Manual. * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). * Minimum age of 23. * High school diploma or equivalent. * Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred * An Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree. * 1 year 121 dispatch experience Job-Specific Leadership Expectations * Embody our values to own safety, do the right thing, be kind-hearted, deliver performance, and be remarkable.
