Officer-Training and Development The role: Train and qualify employees, supervisors, and managers in US Book of Rules (USOR) and job specific skills to ensure they have the knowledge and skills required to perform their jobs safely and productively, so that CNs workforce is ready to meet business goals. Critical Performance Areas Include: * Deliver training in both classroom and field environments, while following a standard instructor guide, and using prepared training and testing materials. * Support training material development working with a Training Manager or Training Advisor. * Prepare for training events by reviewing materials, ordering appropriate supplies, confirming and setting up locations. * Enter training records and qualification records in the corporate Training Management System, thus ensuring that training and qualification records are available for compliance and reference purposes. Training: Successful candidates will participate in a trainer Certification Program that will include a Personal Development Plan to track progress towards certification. In addition, they will receive training to improve facilitators skills and deepen technical knowledge. Working Conditions: * Classroom, field training in major terminals and remote locations. * Will be required to deliver training in the field with employees in all weather conditions. * May be called to protect service disruptions on the CN System. * Be a CN ambassador. * Strong ability to learn and share their learning. * Explains/articulates organizational challenges and identify key stakeholders involved. * Fosters learning environments. Articulates the role of an effective instructor to facilitate learning, drawing on adult learning experience, and expertise to adjust the learning process as needed. * Uses technology confidently and creatively. * Ability to express complex ideas in simple terms and reformulates as needed. * Establishes and maintains professional and team relationships. * Ability to gain and retain respect. * Good listener and provides constructive feedback. * Reflects on processes and suggests improvements. * Listens to feedback and changes learning strategies to adapt to learners needs. * Experience or qualifications as a teacher, instructor or coach education, sports, etc. Minimum Requirements: * High School Diploma or equivalent GED * Valid Drivers License * Railroad knowledge: Strong knowledge of railway operations, CATS, Train and Yard Operations * 3 to 5 years of experience as a Locomotive Engineer, Conductor or Rail Traffic Controller * Ability to perform Locomotive Engineer or Conductor duties without restrictions other than corrective lenses. * Ability to relocate within a reasonable commute to Homewood, IL #IC CN is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
