    Job Description

    What does a Compliance Specialist do?

    An Expeditors Compliance Specialist assists the Compliance Manager in ensuring that the company meets its obligation to comply with all Company policies and all applicable laws and regulations for cargo transportation.

    Compliance Specialist Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assist in the enforcement of Expeditors’ Operational Process Standards, policies and procedures
    • Ensure compliance with CFRs relating to import and export shipments
    • Ensure compliance with Denied Party Screening, sanctions and embargoes
    • Provide guidance and training to staff on compliance policies and procedures
    • Stay current with changes in trade regulations and assess their impact on operations
    • Additional Duties include but not limited to:
      • Internal Reviews and Daily Monitoring
      • Maintaining up to date information with pertinent transportation publications
      • Post Entry writing reviews, reports, activities and trends
      • Prepare and hold training sessions for operational staff
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 1 year of industry experience
    • Fluent in English, both written and verbal
    • Available to work a standard 8 hour shift, with the possibility of OT base business needs
    • Must be able to commute to Salt Lake City, UT onsite location
    • Comfortable with numbers and basic mathematical skills
    • Comfortable working in a professional business environment

    Desired Qualifications/Expectations:

    • Compliance comprehension and high ethical standards
    • 2 years or more of agent or operations experience within logistics or customs brokerage network.
    • Demonstrated understanding of applicable Customs Compliance laws and regulations
    • Ability to relate to clients, government officials and employees at all levels
    • Strong familiarity with, and continued pursuit of proficiency in Expeditors’ operating systems, including GCI, CFIT, EDMS, ETMS, and, where applicable, third-party systems used to conduct Expeditors’ transactions
    • DG certification(s)
    • Proven research, problem solving and follow-up skills
    • Customs Broker license (U.S.) or similar non-U.S. country license, where available (Preferred)
    • IATA/FIATA Cargo Certification (Preferred)
