  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    • Interface with cross functional team to design and develop functional solutions that achieve design requirements & to ensure proper design interfaces with other components, and all requirements are met.
    • *Work with other functions Design / Releasing teams to ensure consistency in requirements, standards, and practices across programs.
    • Translate Functional Objectives into technical requirements and solutions
    • Create and analyze alternative design concepts
    • Integrating system components
    • Support Benchmarking of competitive vehicles.
    • Maintain core Engineering Design Practices (EDP’s)
    • Implement innovation roadmaps as well as coordinate the advancement of new technologies and procedures to improve program timing.
    • Define Customer interface requirements
    • Own and update Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Verification Plan & Report (DVPR), and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) - ensure functional objectives, guidelines and corporate requirements are met
    • Harmonization and quality improvement activities
    • Cost value analysis
    • Develop timelines and drive programs to meet deliverables.
    • Manage Tier I suppliers and software releases and/or hardware designs to meet program timing and deliverables.
    • Interface with stakeholders at all levels including vehicle teams, HMI, validation, requirement leads, technical specialists, leadership, and develop robust functional designs.
    • Present action plans with status/risks to get and keep programs on track.
    • Maintain changes and budget to achieve deliverables for a sound product launch.
    • Follow, track and root cause build issues found during pre-production builds, prior to launch of the program and warranty analysis of all the components after the launch.
    • Concept Design and feasibility studies
    • Support resolution & design updates of vehicle packaging, logbook and manufacturing feasibility issues
    • Conduct Computer Aided Design (CAD) modeling (Catia / NX) and template set-up & maintenance using Knowledge Based Engineering template modeling techniques.
    • Clearly communicate component status and issues in Google Suite and MS-Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
    • Early Computer Aided Design (CAD) creation and development prior to supplier award & onboarding
    • Generate CAD and 2D drawings for components including GD&T
    • Build detailed harness BOMs
    • Identify in lines and eyelets that are readily available
    • Work with Prototype Build Engineering to procure long lead components and coordinate sample requests for component suppliers.
    • Assess and packaging harness design
    • Provide technical interface to the advanced team
    • Work with designers to develop packaging and resolve issues.
    • Coordinate with designers and support teams to ensure all necessary Teamcenter tasks are completed.
    • Attend design reviews/coordination meetings.
    • Develop and release BDU and related component designs that satisfy vehicle level
    • Determine the wiring effect for bulletins and product plan changes and provide electrical build support
    • Provide program deliverables on time per major development milestones
    • Lead and coordinate Product Development Tea (POT) meetings with suppliers
    • Coordinate change management (CCD, CN, A, PER, ICD)
    • Execute standardization plans and reuse of validated subcomponents
    • Provide build and launch support as needed
    • Track current production warranty and assist in foot cause investigations
    • Develop program High Voltage Battery Systems (HVES) concepts that satisfy battery pack and vehicle level functional objectives down to the battery module design level
    • Coordinate T HVBS module packaging activities with advanced concept engineering team and battery pack design team
    • Execute programs through POP that meet or exceed objectives or performance, cost, weight, investment, and quality
    • Develop and publish HVS module performance standards
    • Author and submit source packages on time to support product plans
    • Develop component and system level OVPs and coordinate component level OVP with tiered suppliers
    • Pull and manage part numbers
    • Execute design for manufacturing process and coordinate assembly process with manufacturing engineering
    • Develop and execute system integration Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA) for HVES modules
    • Develop and publish HVBS performance standards
    • Develop system level validation plans, end of line test, and continuous conformance test requirements and coordinate with Tier 1 supplier
    • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of documentation outlining best practices supporting internal continuous improvement initiatives and the development of product technology roadmaps
    • Point of contact for all engine hardware issues
    • Lead initial root cause analysis and support through closure
    • Lead Design and Release Engineers (DRE's) in meeting program objectives for their components with respect to cost, weight, performance, quality, manufacturing, timing, etc.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and or MBA from an ABET accredited university (or equivalent)​
    • Knowledge Lighting Development, Lighting Measurement, Lighting Simulation using SPEOS or any other simulation tools
    • Experience developing Performance Standards, Creating master sections and Surface feasibility proposal for PDO​
    • Knowledge of CAN/LIN bus and experience with circuit analysis​
    • Design for Six Sigma DFSS experienced (Green Belt or Black Belt preferred), Shainin Green Belt​
    • NX and Teamcenter knowledge​
    • Automotive Interior Product Design components/systems design/development/releasing experience​
    • Experience with Tooling feasibility in Injection molded plastics/Decorative components​
    • Highly motivated individual with excellent communication, leadership, organizational skills, excellent relationship building skills with the ability to work in a cross functional team environment​
    • Knowledge of Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R), FEA, Mold Flow Virtual Validation, GD&T, and i-Speed

    • Some travel required to Supplier and Corporate Engine/Transmission / Vehicle Assembly Plants -- including Canada & Mexico.
    • Green/black belt in Shainin or DFSS desirable.
    • CAE/Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) experiences on Powertrain structure
    • Hands-on involvement in the repair/modification of a vehicle, home or other technically complex project
    • Working knowledge of Casting and Injection Molding processes.
    • Strong communications skills and ability to convey technical information for understanding to various audiences (management/non-technical)​
    • Valid driver’s license is required as well as a clean driving record.
