We are looking for a Terminal Procurement Manager to join our team based in the US, as part of our Americas Ocean Customer Logistics and Global Procurement organization, reporting into the Head of Terminal Procurement for North America. You will be in a dynamic, exciting and transforming environment, with the ability to contribute to Maersk’s customer experience and our journey to become the true integrator of container logistics.

As Terminal Procurement Manager (Intergrator) for North America OCL, you will work together with a diverse team of professionals within the Americas Region. You will be overall responsible for driving performance our ocean vendors deliver to our rail and inland suppliers, that will create a smooth 3 way partnership between Maersk operations, Ocean Terminals and the Intermodal Operator. You will own a Procurement Portfolio mainly comprising of Ocean Terminals that provide connectivity to the US and Canadian hinterland, enabling ambitions to grow our Inland product offering. You will also part of a team consisting of Category Managers as well as interacting with other functions such as L&S Procurement, Contract Management, Performance Management, Finance Business Partners, Inland Execution teams and the America’s leadership. In addition to managing the team and the function, you will also be responsible to work closely with the strategy of our in-house Terminal Partners (APM Terminals), in a closely linked collaboration agenda. You are part of a diverse supplier and stakeholder landscape, where you will have the opportunity to be part of the wider Terminals as well as larger Procurement Global Community, where coordination and learnings take place. You will have the opportunity to interact and work closely with Leadership teams in North America L&S Procurement, North America ROM, Inland and Marine Execution Teams in addition to Americas OCL in a highly dynamic and a complex function.
Key responsibilities
•Leads, directs, evaluates, and develops performance standards at the Ocean terminals to de-liver a superior service to Maersk’s rail cargo and intermodal operations •Collaborates and coordinates extensively with L&S Procurement Leadership handling sourcing for Rail and Inland services to develop 3 way agreements that include SLAs at the Ocean terminals and for the Intermodal operators •Ensures alignment between the functions that evaluate rail performance in the different teams to incorporate relevant measures into the interconnection performance scope. •Develop, enhance and execute negotiation strategies towards Ocean terminals and support rail negotiations as a team member to provide the interconnection with terminals angle to the table. •Develop strategic supplier relationship management programs •Close interaction with Contract Management to ensure all agreements are realizing contractual values •Create, evolve and enhance stakeholder map – we work in a complex universe with internal plus external stakeholders, this role will be responsible to own that map for your owned Terminals landscape •Driving professionalization of the Terminal Procurement function, including Port and Terminal playbooks, Supplier Relationship Program, Supplier Performance & scorecards •Participate and Provides input to the network design based on market knowledge ensuring a cost-optimal deployment of assets; in line with contractual •Work closely on the internal collaboration agenda with Group entities and lead, support and institutionalize analytical decision bases •Participate and Provides input to Heads of L&S Services and landside strategy •Support and Provides input to the Ocean Management team, execution teams, HQ central teams in order to drive a red thread through local and global initiatives, and improve synergies and implement global standards within contracts •Have a clear ability to think beyond just cost, and look at long term value driven solutions with partners, including Digital, performance improvement, customer centricity, ESG, P2P process standardization agenda through future looking contracting. •Ability to build long term partnerships and Contracts of the Future, by defining symbiotic long-term value between Maersk and Partners •Secure constant improvement of our contracting clauses, ensuring vendors accountability for customers outcomes and network integrity. •Working closely with the Inland logistics procurement teams, to ensure delivery of seamless integrated solutions to our customers
We are looking for
•A good understanding of rail operations and marine terminal operations, and the interface be-tween the parties involved •Demonstrated project management capability •Comfortable with numbers and building analytical models •Strong Negotiations skills •Experience with digital procurement tools is preferred •Experience with ESG / environmental and sustainable procurement is a strong advantage •5 years with transportation / shipping / terminals experience is preferred •Experience within Supplier Relationship Management •Excellent stakeholder management and communicator; •Customer and process improvement mindset; •Ambassador of company values and leadership behaviours in a visible manner; •Ability to exercise impact with or without direct authority; •Able to deal with ambiguity
