Duties & Responsibilities Escort employees and applicants to exam rooms. Obtain and record vital signs including height, weight, blood pressure and pulse, advising physicians and nurses of any abnormal findings. Administer electrocardiograms and audiometric and vision testing and prepare results for physicians and nurses to review. Perform urine dipstick chemical analysis Collect urine specimens for drug testing in accordance with departmental and federal guidelines. Conduct alcohol testing in accordance with departmental and federal guidelines. Ensure employee and applicant confidentiality. Maintain cleanliness of the examination rooms and equipment. Restocks work areas, including offsite collection areas with testing supplies, equipment and medical supplies when required. Administer flu vaccine. Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance on all equipment according to manufacturing guidelines including temperature readings, calibration and quality control. Perform administrative duties such as filing, answering phones, reviewing medical records and appointment scheduling. Coordinate and expedite employee and applicant "flow" issues to minimize waiting time. Work on-call shifts including nights, weekends and holidays. Drive a personal vehicle to work on-call shifts needed. Work any and all shifts and/or collection locations as assigned or directed. Respond to each inquiry, whether from a customer, vendor or co-worker in a courteous and professional manner consistent with the Authority's Customer Service quality standard. Perform related duties and projects as assigned. Minimum Requirements/Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution, with the ability to comprehend, communicate and respond to instructions, orders, signs, notices, inquiries, etc. in English. Completion of a medical assistant certification program from an accredited institution. Two (2) years of experience as a medical assistant with working knowledge of, and the ability to use various medical equipment such as EKG, hearing and vision machines. The ability to complete an approved Breath Alcohol Technician certification within 30 days of hire. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Possession of excellent clinical skills and basic knowledge of medical terminology. Effective confidentiality, organizational, multi-tasking, time management and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and scheduling systems. The ability to pass: the MBTA's drug and alcohol screening. Excellent customer service skills. Must possess a valid driver's license. Ability to work and respond to on-call shifts on a rotating schedule.
