Job Description
VICE PRESIDENT FOR SECURITY & SAFETY will provide the strategy and leadership for the security of the NYBG’s physical site. The position oversees and directs the Garden-wide functions of safety and security, crime prevention, fire and life safety, and emergency responses, which requires 24/7 coverage. This responsibility includes the development and deployment of resources for the safety and security of more than one million visitors each year including daytime exhibition goers, evening event participants, adult students, school children, visiting researchers, VIPs, as well as 500 full-time and part-time staff and volunteers. It also includes the protection of NYBG's physical assets, including facilities, collections, special exhibitions, vehicles, and more.
The position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and serves as an essential member of the COO division. The VP works closely with the departments of Operations, Visitor Experience, Exhibitions, Special Events, Capital Projects, as well as NYBG’s Risk Management Committee.
