    Job Description

    The Product Manager will manage a cross functional team during the lifecycle of one or more products in order to achieve the maximum revenue, market share, profit, ROI and customer satisfaction while being consistent with the Company’s overall strategic business plan. A Product Manager is responsible for one or more of the Company’s most strategically and financially important products or product lines. Product Management is part of Marketing and therefore belongs to or works closely with Marketing departments.

    Responsibilities:

    SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Responsible for the overall management of the lifecycle for one or more products, through concept, planning, development, product introduction, growth, maturity, decline, and planned obsolescence.
    • Initiates and leads a multi-disciplinary cross functional team to plan, develop, produce, market, sell, deliver and service one or more products to achieve financial objectives (e.g., revenue, market share, profit, ROI) and standards for customer service.
    • Leads the marketing research effort by collecting information about the market, customers and competitive products as well as the chances and risks of market developments.
    • Based on market research, technical and commercial feasibility studies and business cases, develops and decides on product concepts. Presents concepts to senior management for approval of product development.
    • Prepares a product development road map to manage the transition and coordination of the product among a cross functional team as the product development moves from R&D, to Engineering, to Manufacturing and Supply Chain, to delivery.
    • Develops and drives value based pricing strategies across product portfolio to maximize margin
    • Provides regular status reports to senior management, customers, and suppliers.
    • Determines if beta testing or product pilot testing is required, oversees testing and uses results to make any necessary product modifications.
    • Initiates market introduction together with Marketing Communications and advises on how to best position and sell product, including recommended selling price(s). Gives product demonstrations to customers, and at trade shows as needed in support of Sales. Supports Sales efforts by providing sales kits, product overviews and demonstrations, technical reference materials, and training sales team.
    • Follows up on success of the product and manages the lifecycle coordinating necessary product changes and upgrades and prepares for product obsolescence.
    • During the product’s life cycle, looks for opportunities to create a portfolio or family of related products to sell to additional market segments at both lower and higher price points without eroding the market share. Coordinates development of platforms and seeks to use synergies e.g. re-using sub-assemblies and components.
    • Prepares and implements product’s exit plan including the future use of subassemblies and components.
    • Works with Sales to maintain relationship with customers to proactively resolve any issues regarding product quality and/or service, and to proactively plan product enhancements and future generations.
    • Conducts product evaluations, documents result of evaluations and informs and advises other departments about product modifications and/or future generations based on the results of the evaluations.
    • Comply with and ensure department compliance with Company health, safety and environmental policies.
    • Comply with all applicable S. export control and security regulations.
    • Other duties as required.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Education/Training:

    • Post Secondary Education in Business, Science or Engineering or equivalent experience
    • Advanced Degree Preferred

    Experience:

    • Significant experience in business administration, specific experience in Product Marketing preferred
    • Led or actively participated in projects encompassing cross-functional teams
    • Broad experience and understanding of multiple aspects of a business including, but not limited to, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Operations, Purchasing, Sales, Marketing, Research and Product Development
    • Experience in overall product road mapping
    • Experience in dealing directly with Customers
    • Experience with pricing and market research
    • Project Management Experience preferred

    Knowledge/Skills:

    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project. Access and Visio preferred.
    • Knowledge of how data management impacts business processes
    • Effective communication skills at all levels of the organization
    • Ability to manage cross-functional teams in a matrix environment and influence people outside of direct reporting relationships
    • Market oriented way of thinking

    This position may require Sensitive Security Information (SSI) access and vetting via the TSA. If required, applicant must successfully pass a federal background investigation.

    The compensation for this position ranges from $96,237 - $144,355.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills, job-related knowledge, and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
