    Job Description

    We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to learn and understand the Software test process, including the tools and methodologies currently being used. The Intern must be willing to understand and learn to write test plans and then execute them hands-on. The Software Testing and Automation Engineering Intern will support our mission using software tools to be used in the factory testing and airport deployment of CT systems in the US and around the world. This individual will work closely with the Technology and Management teams to develop, document, and deploy these tools.

    Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

    Job duties to include but are not limited to;

    • Willing to learn/support manual hands-on testing onsite in Edgewood.
    • Work with the Team members and domain expert to understand the testing effort by learing to analyze the requirements of software projects.
    • Be creative in generating test cases, use cases and write, execute test plans in support of those projects.
    • Thoroughly document test results and willing to present it to the team.
    • Willing to be mentored by a team member.
    • Knowladge of Linux/Windows, virtualization and scripting (Python).
    • Willing to working on building in-house test tools.
    • Good written and oral communication skills
    • Willing to work next to the hardware on a engineering floor setup.
    • In-person work.
    • Complying with and promoting all relevant legal requirements & Smiths policies and procedures, including business ethics, data protection and health & safety
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Education: Degree-track undergraduate or graduate student in Software Engineering or Computer Science.

    Experience: Experience with basic software test engineering principles and processes required.

    Knowledge skills/other attributes:

    • Ability to work in matrixed environment with different profession types (i.e. engineers, software developers, project mangers, etc.)
    • Tools: Windows, Linux, Virtulization and Python
    • US Citizen preferred; ability to pass a background check and security vetting required

    The compensation for this position ranges from $15.00 - $35.00/hr and will vary depending on factors including level of school completed and type of position requirements for skills, whether technical or non-technical.
