Add to Job Cart - (TD) - (SPAN) - Job Overview Primary Purpose and
Essential Functions: Lead all areas of compliance and safety for a fleet
of 200+ drivers; assist leadership in maintaining compliance with
company policies, Department of Transportation (DOT) and all other
local, state and federal regulations. - Observe and evaluate driver
safety behaviors; determine recommendation for remedial training or
disciplinary measures. Know and understand the 5 levels of discipline
and be involved in the discipline process with fleet leaders and driver
leaders; ensure completion of remedial training and additional
counseling as necessary. Mentor new or recently counseled drivers on
trip planning, proper safety procedures and logging practices. Review
rehire opportunities and termination situations and provide
recommendations to leadership; provide authorization when permitted. -
Perform speed checks by monitoring sensor-tracks and counsel drivers
that are in violation of Swifts speed policy. Route trucks into a shop
to verify PDI/Parameter settings as needed. - Use TMI Rapidlog system to
monitor driver logs for violations and missing logs. Obtain missing logs
from drivers and turn them into the Terminal Safety Coordinator and/or
log department. Analyze logs daily by researching 180 days (6 months) of
missing logs per driver. Use the risk analysis tool in TMI to keep
drivers below 40 pts. - Use the ENO system to monitor required classes
and/or safety events, which could include LCQT training, CDLs,
physicals, and hazmat certifications. Schedule and direct drivers to
ensure attendance in required class(s), such as certification, training
and log classes; serve suspensions when needed. Facilitate safety
training programs, classes and meetings when applicable; conduct new
driver orientation for dedicated account drivers when applicable. -
Ensure drivers are not placed on any type of safety suspension or hold
by working with driver leaders to schedule and route drivers into
classes before ENO expiration dates; monitor ENO queue to verify drivers
have completed up-to-date testing and obtained appropriate
certifications to avoid suspensions/holds. - Maintain a positive work
atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the
success of business operations in order to meet company demands and
expectations. - Perform DM, Customer Service Representative (CSR) and
Planner functions during the absence of another staff member or as
required by leadership; perform additional duties as requested by
leadership. - In addition to the responsibilities listed above,
Non-dedicated Driver Support Safety Coordinators will perform the
following: - Work with designated department personnel to schedule and
complete random drug and alcohol screens within the first two weeks of
the month. - Obtain the proper paperwork for rider/pet authorizations;
ensure necessary paperwork is on file and appropriate documentation is
with the driver on the truck and within the AS400 system to specify
riders on trucks. - Distribute driver safety awards to designated
department personnel for presentation. - Skills: Ability to lead others,
knowledge of the transportation industry preferred, ability to
communicate well with others, ability to transfer knowledge, above
average writing skills and organizational skills, professional
appearance, ability to take direction from leaders and detail oriented,
ability to solve problems and work in high pressure situations, and
computer based keyboard skills. - Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience Required: One year of leadership experience, previous
driving, or safety experience required. One year of driver leadership or
