  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    • Conducts technical education programs (ie: outline, text, handouts, tests, laboratory exercises, etc.) for customers and service engineers on current and new products utilizing ISD methods.
    • Conducts certification training for field service engineers and other internal employees.
    • Conducts soft-skills and leadership training in support of internal initiatives.
    • Creates eLearning courses using Articulate and/or Storyline products.
    • Creates, reviews, and edits all assigned training materials and designs program improvements on a continuous basis based on customer needs and utilizing ISD standards.
    • Recommends modification of lessons, modules or classes in accordance with internal/external client’s unique needs.
    • Lectures class on safety, installation, programming, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
    • Demonstrates procedures being taught, such as programming and repair.
    • Administers written and practical exams and writes performance reports to evaluate trainee’s performance.
    • Participates in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to obtain information useful to training facility and integrates information into training program.
    • Provides on-site application support for new product field tests.
    • Becomes subject matter expert by attaining full knowledge of applications, installations and operations of assigned products and HR skillsets.
    • Establishes and maintains a close relationship with Product Specialists and HR in order to support the needs of the customer and remain aware of current technical and/or compliance trends, and to ensure Product Manual and lesson plan continuity.
    • Complies with and ensure department compliance with Company health, safety and environmental policies.
    • Complies with all applicable U.S. export control and security regulations.
    • Other duties as required.

    Background:

    This position requires Sensitive Security Information (SSI) access and vetting via the TSA. Applicant must successfully pass a federal background investigation.
    This position requires a U.S. Personal Security Clearance.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: Typically, the work environment will be in a classroom or laboratory environment. The job may also be performed off-site at the customer location. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

    Qualifications

    Education/Training: A Bachelor's Degree in education, adult learning, or a technical discipline is preferred. Three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable. Troubleshooting skills are necessary, and must be computer literate. Strong organizational skills & self-discipline to work independently with limited supervision.

    Experience: Individual must have three to five years of training and course development (including eLearning development) experience. Course development experience required. Persons from within the company must have at least one year prior experience, or been involved with both internal and external training activities with a proven track record of success. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearances.

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

    • Ability to analyze, develop and design training and support materials.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
    • Ability to deliver soft-skills and leadership training effectively.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Ability to engage an audience, parse information, and perform testing.

    PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to plan and execute training concepts and conduct training courses
    • Possess excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal skills with the ability to multi task several projects at once.
    • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to handle stressful situations.
    • Self-motivated, reliable, and accountable individual
    • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb, balance or stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
    • Ability to lift packages up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
    • Must be able to certify on all Smiths Detection equipment within two years with a passing score of 90%.

    POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time position. Must have travel flexibility, as well as flexible working hours. This position requires the candidate to live in the greater Baltimore area.

    TRAVEL: 90% travel (domestic and international) can be expected at peak times.

    The compensation for this position ranges from $77,605.00 - $116,407/YR and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills, job-related knowledge, and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
