    Wastewater Operator Trainee or Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I, II, or III Salary $33,051.20 - $49,608.00 Annually Location FL 32533, FL Job Type Full Time Department Water Reclamation Job Number 5360 Closing 1/2/2019 11:59 PM Central Responsibilities/Pay Grade We will be filling one position at the Central Water Reclamation Facility (CWRF) in Cantonment as a Wastewater Operator Trainee, WWTP Op I, II, or III depending on licensure. The position at CWRF works 12 hour rotating shifts. Please note for the WW Op Trainee position: Successfully screened & selected applicants will be testing at ECUA on Tuesday, January 8th from 1 pm - 3 pm. Interviews will be scheduled on Thursday morning, January 10th at our Central Water Reclamation Facility. Candidates will be chosen after testing results are completed and reviewed. Those with the top passing test scores will be given first consideration. Your availability for both the testing and interview is required for you to be considered. No online testing is available. You must be present in Pensacola to test. (If you currently hold a Florida WWTP Op License, it is not necessary to test, however, you must apply and if selected for an interview, you must be available on Thursday morning, January 10th.) JOB SUMMARY: PG 21 Starting pay for Wastewater Operator Trainee candidate selected will be $15.89 hour. Performs routine, semi-skilled work in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant and maintenance of associated equipment. Work is performed under the immediate supervision of a licensed operator. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Tours plant and facilities, inspects and observes equipment and machinery. Records readings, adjusts and regulates the operation of gauges, meters, and specialized equipment. Work is performed under the supervision of higher-level technical personnel. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Monitors the operation of various pieces of equipment and machinery to insure proper operation. Adjusts various pieces of equipment to produce required effect. Takes samples at various points in the process, performs physical and chemical tests, and records results. Calibrates, reads, and records various meters and gages. Performs general maintenance on plant equipment and machinery. May prepare work orders for repairs beyond the capabilities of shift personnel. May clean and maintain treatment plant grounds when necessary. Working on an assigned shift, performs responsible, skilled work in the operation of a large, multi-process wastewater treatment plant. General supervision may be exercised over lower-level operators. Work is performed under the general supervision of a shift supervisor. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Monitors the operation of a major sub-system of a wastewater treatment plant to ensure operations within design/required parameters. Adjusts system operation to meet changing needs and demands. Monitors the operation of various pieces of equipment and machinery. Performs routine maintenance on equipment. Trouble-shoots malfunctioning equipment to determine cause and corrective action needed. Prepares work order to maintenance beyond the capabilities of operators. Reads and records various gauges, meters, and charts. Maintains operational records and logs. Collects various samples, performs tests, and/or delivers to laboratory for further testing. Trains and instructs lower-level operators and maintenance personnel. May clean and maintain treatment plant grounds when necessary. Working on an assigned shift, performs responsible, skilled work in the Water Reclamation Department. General supervision may be exercised over lower-level operators. Work is performed under the general supervision of a shift supervisor. Incumbents at this level are not supervisors, however they have attained a Domestic Wastewater Class A License. Assigned duties and responsibilities will be the similar as those performed by Class B operators. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gage readings. Provides routine testing, monitoring, and maintenance of water reclamation facilities Makes adjustments to the treatment processes, as required, to effectively treat and deliver effluent in compliance with all rules, regulations and the facility's standard operating procedures. Compiles data for chemical use and keeps records on equipment and water plant operations. May assist in the emergency repair and maintenance of treatment equipment, pumps, motors, sensing devices, instrumentation, and electrical equipment. Ensures that facilities are secure. Enters data into computer programs. May use computer to prepare reports. May clean and maintain treatment plant grounds when necessary. Understands and adheres to all ECUA health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions. Monitors gages, meters, and computer control panels.
