Job Description
AERCO is seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer to focus on New Product Development (NPD) projects. The Embedded Systems Engineer will work cross-functionally to deliver through the design, development, and testing of proprietary electronic system controls for hydronic heating and water heating systems.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
FIRMWARE: Proficient in C/C++, Linux Operating Systems
HARDWARE: Design Digital and Analog Circuitry, A/D & D/A Converters, SPI Bus, I2C Bus
COMMUNICATIONS: Understanding of RS-485, Modbus, CAN Bus, Ethernet/IP, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular; BACnet a plus
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communications, Software Engineering, Computer Science. Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of experience contributing and leading engineering development projects
- Experience in specifying, designing, programming and maintaining embedded microprocessor-based control systems, ability to program new applications and modify existing applications
- Competent to write, debug, flash, and interface complex microprocessor code in C++ and for Linux Operating Systems
- Compile and build user space applications on Linux
- Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Cellular
- Experience with structured source code management & versioning systems and build environments such as Git
- Ability to structure product design, bills of material and configurations for use in a formal manufacturing environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills, maintain strong working relationship with all internal groups
- Proficient in business applications - MS office, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
- Ability to travel – up to 5%
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 3+ years of progressive lead controls and software engineering experience including project management
- Experience with Microchip or ARM microprocessors and touchscreens is a plus
- Qt5 Framework for GUI, Boot to Qt
- Yocto or OpenEmbedded Build Scripts
- Experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud Solutions, and writing mobile apps using C# and Xamarin
- Experience with Schematic Capture and PC Board Layout
