This interim position will be from February 1, 2019 June 30, 2020 (17 months) and will be based on the Wadena campus. The interim position is open to Minnesota State Colleges and University employees only. The Academic Dean is a front-line leader of the College, a member of the Academic Leadership Team, and a member of the College management team. Academic leaders are the facilitating link among faculty members, staff, students, and external constituencies. All activities and roles of the Academic Dean aim at furthering the best interests of M State students. Academic Deans play four essential roles, serving as: 1. academic leaders of their faculty, divisions, and programs; 2. representatives of their faculty, divisions, and programs; 3. representatives of College leadership to their colleges; 4. managers of college resources. The Academic Dean is responsible for promoting academic, administrative, and fiscal leadership in accordance with the Minnesota State Community and Technical College strategic and academic plans and for exercising holistic judgment when executing the duties of this position. Examples of Duties: Responsibilities: * Serve as front-line leader for the College, a member of the Academic Leadership Team, and a member of the College management team. * Manage credit course/program offerings; * Provide strategic instructional leadership for the college; * Manage all college policies and procedures; * Lead faculty and staff; * Perform general administrative duties; * Enforce and implement equal opportunity and affirmative action policies, procedures, and programs as appropriate to academic leadership. Typical Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: * Master's degree from regionally accredited college/university; * Career, trade or technical program or industry experience; * Demonstrated knowledge of teaching or training experience; * Dynamic and innovative leadership experience required; * Ability to build authentic relationships with stakeholders; * Demonstrated experience in building and developing high performing teams; * Documented success in building partnerships and collaborative agreements; * Demonstrated ability to work successfully with individuals of diverse backgrounds and perspectives; * Extensive communication skills with the demonstrated ability to communicate authentically and directly; * Demonstrated passion for community college student success; * Establish reputation for celebrating and appreciating successes; Preferred Qualifications: * Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited college/university; * Academic leadership in a community and/or technical college; * Three years of supervisory experience; * Working knowledge of higher education policies, practices, and procedures; * Experience in working with collective bargaining; Experience in fiscal planning and budgeting.
