About Us: Ignite Achievement Academy is an accredited K-12 private school with two campuses in Charlotte, NC dedicated to providing exceptional educational experiences for students with special needs. Position Overview: As a T eaching Assistant , you will work alongside the classroom teacher to support each child's individual instructional plan. Each classroom consists of approximately six students who receive a mixture of whole-group instruction and small-group instruction based on their unique learning needs. The Teaching Assistant assists the teacher throughout the day with differentiated instruction and one-on-one student support.
The Teaching Assistant will deliver supportive instruction aligning to the student's instructional plan, collect data, observe students responses, and work closely with assigned students in small-groups and/or one-on-one. Training is provided in advance of the school year to ensure Teaching Assistants are equipped with the tools and skills necessary to excel in this position.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with both whole-group and small-group instruction and activities to reinforce learning objectives.
- Provide one-on-one or small group academic or behavioral support to students, ensuring they remain engaged and on task.
- Collect and document student progress data to inform instructional and behavioral adjustments.
- Observe and monitor student engagement, providing feedback to the teacher as needed.
- Assist in creating a positive and structured learning environment.
- Support students with their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Support students with classroom routines and transitions.
- Implement and reinforce classroom routines and behavior management strategies.
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and respectful classroom environment.
- Communicate effectively with the classroom teacher and other staff members regarding student progress and needs.
- Participate in professional development and training sessions as required.
- Assist with implementing and adapting technology and assistive devices to support student learning.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with disabilities
- Exemplary written and oral communication skills
- Ability to establish a strong and supportive relationship with each assigned student
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team
- Stamina to actively engage with students throughout the school day and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Capability to perform tasks involving physical activities, including standing, walking, and bending
- Ability to pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children with special needs
- Classroom experience (teaching or assisting)
- Bachelor's degree
- Teacher certification
