    Internship responsibilities may include

Catalog/Job Code Management – A key responsibility of the Procurement organization is the management of tens of thousands of materials and services on catalog that account for billions of dollars in spend.

    a. “Mini” RFx – Procurement will look to engage the intern in an RFx process where they have the opportunity to shadow a Procurement Manager through requirements gathering, RFx issuance, negotiations, analysis, and award. This will provide the intern a look into Charter’s procurement process, allowing them to think strategically throughout the process and provide them the opportunity to bring new ideas and perspective.

    b. Improving Reporting Capabilities – Charter’s Procure-To-Pay and ERP system readily captures thousands of transactions every day that is not readily presented in a format that is helpful for sourcing managers to make key sourcing decisions. Using raw data from these systems, the intern will help develop meaningful excel reports that provide deep insights into purchasing transactions and potential savings opportunities.

    c. Assessment/Validation of Items in System – With thousands of materials and services on catalog, discrepancies between what is stated in our contracts and what is listed in our systems occasionally occur. Auditing and identifying these discrepancies is crucial in ensuring that we are not overpaying or miscalculating warehouse deliveries. The intern will analyze invoice data from key suppliers to ensure compliance with contracted terms.

Supplier Management - Procurement works with thousands of suppliers that provide a variety of materials and services, and each and every one can present a unique challenge to overcome on a daily basis.

    a. Day-to-Day Management – Whether there are shipping delays resulting from world events, or disagreements in contracted language, the Procurement team is regularly faced with supplier related issues, and the intern will gain experience in working to resolve those issues.

    b. Supplier Databases – The intern will help keep supplier databases updated, as well as work to further develop and improve the databases where possible.

Contract Management – Contracts serve as the source of truth for the agreed upon terms and conditions for how suppliers interact and conduct business with Charter, and the management of those contracts fall under the Procurement Team’s realm of responsibilities.

    a. Contracting – With contracts frequently needing to be renewed or newly issued, the intern will have the opportunity to work through the contracting process with a supplier.
