    POSITION SUMMARY
    Carmen Schools seeks a student-focused leader who understands and commits to implementing the Carmen Educational Model to ensure all students graduate prepared for success in college, meaningful careers, community involvement, and family life. The Assistant Principal (AP) will be a part of the School Leadership team and work with the Principal to create a positive culture for Carmen scholars, faculty, staff and community members through collaboration and modeling. The AP is responsible for managing and monitoring school data, supporting strong student engagement in the classrooms, and supporting a positive school culture. The AP will have direct reports for which they are responsible to supervise, coach, and develop on a regular basis. Like all Carmen Leaders, the Assistant Principal models Carmen's habit of heart and mind.

    ****Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000
    Location: Carmen High School of Science and Technology, Northwest Campus

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's Degree in education or related field; master's degree preferred
    • Principal's licensure required, or eligibility for such licensure
    • Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction teacher and administrator licenses or eligibility
    • Minimum 5 years teaching experience with a minimum 1 year in full-time leadership role
    • Spanish proficiency preferred
    • Ability to lead and function in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment with a mature and joyous approach to challenges
    • Experience leading a high-performing team preferred

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Mission & Vision

    • In collaboration with the School Leadership team, executes all school duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Carmen vision, mission, and strategic plan
    • In collaboration with the School Leadership team, creates a safe and positive culture of accountability for Carmen students, faculty, staff, and community members.
    • Communicates with Carmen stakeholders and community members regarding student engagement and other data
    • Builds deep and trusting relationships with faculty, staff, students, and families.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    Instructional Leadership & Math Support

    • Provide direct support to math teachers, ensuring high-quality instruction aligned with school goals.
    • Lead data-driven instructional improvements, including analyzing assessment data and adjusting teaching strategies to improve student outcomes.
    • Implement targeted interventions for struggling students, especially in mathematics.
    • Observe and coach teachers across all instructional areas to enhance teaching practices.
    • Collaborate with instructional staff to align curriculum, assessments, and instructional strategies.

    Schoolwide Instructional Support & On-Track Monitoring

    • Work with grade-level leads to monitor student progress, address academic concerns, and ensure alignment with school goals.
    • Track high school on-track rates to ensure students meet graduation requirements and are set up for postsecondary success.
    • Monitor and adjust intervention programs for high school students, ensuring timely academic and behavioral supports.
    • Conduct regular classroom walkthroughs and provide actionable feedback to teachers.
    • Support professional development for teachers across content areas, ensuring rigorous and equitable learning experiences.
    • Lead and oversee assessment cycles, ensuring effective use of student performance data.

    Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) & School Culture

    • Partner with the school social worker to develop and implement SEL initiatives that promote student well-being.
    • Support teachers in integrating SEL strategies into classroom instruction and interactions.
    • Lead efforts to strengthen positive student behavior, restorative practices, and conflict resolution.
    • Work with the culture team to ensure strong schoolwide systems that foster respect and accountability.
    • Collaborate with the culture team regarding coverage and visual preps, ensuring all spaces are structured and organized.
    • Assist in addressing student behavioral concerns, ensuring alignment with school policies and restorative practices.

    Family & Community Engagement

    • Partner with families to support student success, particularly in math, intervention programs, and SEL development.
    • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress, interventions, and school initiatives.
    • Foster strong community partnerships that align with the school's academic and SEL goals.

    School Leadership & Operations

    • Serve as a key member of the school's leadership team, helping drive the school's vision and strategic priorities.
    • Support daily school operations, including student arrival, dismissal, and emergency procedures.
    • Collaborate with the culture team to ensure coverage, ensuring smooth transitions and supervision in hallways, lunchrooms, and common spaces.
    • Lead or contribute to committees focused on school improvement, student engagement, and teacher support.
    • Ensure compliance with district, state, and national policies regarding curriculum, instruction, and student support.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The position will work predominantly Monday – Friday; however, this position will require work on evenings and weekends as necessary.
