  • Responsibilities

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Set up and operate all CNC machining centers.
    • Observe machine operation and measure parts using defined inspection tools.
    • Write and optimize CNC programs for multi-axis machining centers.
    • Prepare and operate CNC lathes and mills with minimal supervision, including tool changes and programming edits.
    • Generate CNC programs using CAM software, with knowledge of cutting feeds, speeds, and tool applications.
    • Develop work holding solutions and select cutting tools.
    • Maintain and optimize setup and operation documents.
    • Adjust tools and machine settings to achieve specified results.
    • Verify conformance of production parts to specifications using measuring instruments.
    • Perform machine maintenance as required.
    • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, Purchasing, and Scheduling departments.
    • Audit product quality and monitor operator quality check sheets.
    • Perform various tasks in the shop as designated by supervision.
    • Stop machine operation and notify supervisor of non-conforming parts, making necessary adjustments.
    • Maintain scrap levels below standard.
    • Keep a clean and safe working environment (5S).
    • Provide ongoing training for production employees.
    • Work effectively with minimal supervision.

    Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or GED;
    • minimum three years’ experience in a metal shop.
    • Preferred: Aerospace experience.
    • Experience writing CNC programs in a machining environment.
    • Proficiency with CAD and CAM software (MasterCAM preferred).
    • Experience with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers).
    • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and blueprints in English.
    • Proficiency in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
    • Ability to understand and execute written, oral, or diagram instructions.

    Physical Demands:

    • Regularly required to talk, hear, sit, and use hands.
    • Frequently required to reach, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
    • Occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals.
    • Moderate noise level.
    • Vision: near and far vision of 20/30 in both eyes.
    • Manual dexterity for handling small parts and measuring equipment.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to drive and operate a forklift.
