Summary
The Operations Leader will be a hands-on, floor-oriented leader who reports to the Plant Manager and provides oversight over all night shift operations to include, production, quality, PPS, inventory, and sanitation. This leader will rely on their high social ability to persuade, influence, and motivate team members to achieve productivity goals, while promoting a positive, safe, and organized work environment. Will be responsible for ensuring that maintenance, hygiene, and cleanness of the equipment and/or systems meet/exceed targeted Food Safety and Quality standards. Will have a high attention to detail, an ability to communicate information effectively, efficiently, and accurately and will be an independent thinker who will proactively research and implement system improvements.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Will establish clear goals and motivate employees to help them achieve safety, production, and quality goals.
Will develop plans to address skill gaps within the workforce
Will execute daily production schedules and adjust as needed according to variations in availability of resources and customer requirements.
Delegate work assignments to employees to ensure high labor efficiency and timely completion of all tasks.
Will prepare production reports (daily/weekly/monthly), identify opportunities for improvement, and seek solutions to meet departmental quality and production goals.
Will oversee the inventory department to ensure ingredients and packaging materials are readily available and timely to support production.
Will oversee maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and safety.
Will oversee the quality assurance to ensure daily checks, product quality, and environmental controls are in place to protect food safety and GMPs are adhered to.
Will oversee the 3rd party night sanitation crew to ensure that the production and warehouse storage areas are properly maintained, recyclables are properly segregated, and trash is appropriately discarded.
Will work the HSSE & HR Managers to perform and record employee safety training, conduct employee performance reviews, and compose and enforce employee disciplinary write-ups.
Ensure compliance with customer specifications, quality standards, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), safety, health, environmental and other regulations
Work with Quality Assurance to investigate customer quality issues, develop and implement corrective actions
· Enforce GMP and SQF procedures daily and consistently to ensure environment is following certifications.
Develop, track, and drive business performance through the effective use of Key Performance Metrics and Visual management boards
Supervisory Responsibility
Delegate duties to staff. Supervise staff activities and provide instruction as needed.
Develop and maintain an effective staff through the selection, training, compensation, motivation, termination, and review of staff.
Develop schedule for maintenance staff based on production needs.
Provide guidance and direction to staff to assist in their professional development to include facilitating cross training employees
Qualifications
3+ years of manufacturing experience and at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity with oversight of a team of 30 – 50 employees and supervisors.
Comfortable with managing to metrics, as well as being managed by metrics
High degree of computer literacy is required (excel, office, PowerPoint, word, etc.)
Familiarity and knowledge of ERP systems (NetSuite is a plus)
Proven experience of increasing productivity is necessary
Strong leadership presence
Able to multi-task and make decisions in times of ambiguity
Understands and is comfortable with escalation when appropriate
