Job Overview:
Mater Brickell Academy is seeking an innovative and passionate Robotics Teacher for grades 6-12 who is dedicated to inspiring students through hands-on learning and fostering an interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The Robotics Teacher will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging curriculum that integrates robotics, coding, and engineering principles. The ideal candidate will create a dynamic classroom environment where students can develop problem-solving skills, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking through the application of robotics and technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive robotics curriculum for students in grades 6-12, including beginner to advanced levels.
- Teach students programming languages (such as Python, C++, or Java) and robotics platforms (such as VEX, LEGO Mindstorms, Arduino, etc.).
- Facilitate hands-on learning experiences that include building and programming robots, problem-solving challenges, and team-based projects.
- Encourage participation in robotics competitions, providing guidance and mentorship for students in preparing for events.
- Collaborate with other STEM educators to integrate interdisciplinary approaches into lessons.
- Maintain an inclusive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation.
- Monitor and assess student progress through a variety of evaluation methods and adjust teaching strategies as needed.
- Maintain inventory and proper functioning of robotics equipment and classroom resources.
- Attend professional development sessions to stay up-to-date with the latest trends in STEM and robotics education.
- Build partnerships with local technology companies, colleges, and community organizations to enrich the robotics program.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration regarding student performance, curriculum updates, and program goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Robotics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- State teaching certification or eligibility to receive certification in STEM or Technology Education.
- Previous experience teaching robotics, computer science, or engineering to middle or high school students.
- Strong knowledge of various programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, or C++) and robotics systems (VEX, LEGO, Arduino, etc.).
- Familiarity with 3D modeling, prototyping, and design tools is a plus.
- Excellent classroom management and instructional skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students to pursue STEM-related careers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, parents, and colleagues.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience leading students in robotics competitions (FIRST Robotics, VEX, etc.).
- Familiarity with educational technology and online learning platforms.
- Ability to adapt curriculum to meet diverse learning needs.
