    Our company is a private orthodontic practice with two locations serving the downriver area. We are well-established private practice and pride ourselves on a patient-focused environment with a small hometown feel.

    The owners of this company are looking for a candidate who can cross-cover the business accounting when necessary but who would primarily manage the budgeting/parables/receivables of the owner's personal and additional small businesses while supporting as a personal executive assistant.

    Our goal is to hire a specialist that is accustomed to accuracy, organization, and accountability through independent data driven workflow and reporting.

    This candidate needs to be comfortable being fully responsible to manage and safeguard highly confidential information at all times. This position is expected to work independently. They must have an extraordinarily strong work ethic in regard to daily business practices. This position is well suited for a professional who thrives working independently and can set very firm personal boundaries in the workplace due to the confidential material handled within the scope of the job. This is not suited for someone who is looking for a social type setting within the work environment, but who, alternatively, will work very closely and personally with the owners. This position is 50% bookkeeping and 50% assistant capacity.

    Accounts receivable duties include AR billing, follow-up, denial processing, bounced payments, suspended credits, and accounting duties such as posting to ledgers, balancing accounts, closing the daily accounting, and deposits.

    Accounts payable duties include credits, refunds, bill posting, bill pay, price shopping, and negotiating service contracts.

    General accounting duties include detailed budgeting, reconciling, auditing financial reports, auditing expense reports, filing, purging, verifying the internal consistency, completeness, and mathematical accuracy of all bookkeeping entries and practices, creating and managing spreadsheets, and running financial reports.

    Executive assistant duties could include supporting basic business operations and personal needs in any useful way, including running a business and personal errands and helping the owners complete their day-to-day duties.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Most important the ability to follow through tasks and report completion.

    Ability to re-prioritize effectively and efficiently on a daily basis

    Exceptional customer service

    Exceptional problem-resolution & negotiation abilities

    Proficient in Quick Books or similar accounting software

    Understanding of the Chart of Accounts (difference between expenses/income/liabilities/assets/bank accounts)

    Bank or loan reconciliation experience

    AP/AR experience

    Strong math skills

    Word processing and executive correspondence

    Knowledge of or experience with contract writing

    Microsoft Office and Google Documents a major plus

    Paperless cloud storage work practices

    Good communication skills and the ability to send workflow efficiently to a team

    Be able to manage and prioritize workflow and processes

    Thrive in an independent and accountable position

    Experience:

    Bookkeeping/accounting experience: 2 years (FIRMLY REQUIRED)

    The position is subject to a background check, be willing to be bonded, and a 90-day resignation policy will be in place.
