Locum Tenens Position
ACI Federal is seeking BC/BE Psychiatric MD/DO to assist with locum tenens coverage in Staunton, VA. Experience working with an acute and chronic adult inpatient population is required, and forensic population, preferred.

Assignment:
Available to start immediately (pending credentialing)
Initial Appointment for 3-month assignment, with option to extend 3 -6-month assignment, if the position remains unfilled
Pay rate $82.20- $98.64 Full-time, 40 hours a week with assigned office hours of Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm with 1 hour lunch break, no alternative schedules accepted
NOT approved for overtime
No weekends, no holidays, no on-call duty
Ability to provide cross coverage, to include forensic populations, as required
Once a month, participation in Lunch Coverage Call (12:00 PM – 1:00 PM)
Qualifications:
3+ more years as a Physician/Practitioner
Strong experience working with patients having Serious Mental Illness (SMI)
Psychiatric Crisis Management and Forensic experience, a plus
Experience working with adult admissions or geriatric admissions and acute and chronic health management of adult and geriatric populations.
Comfortable working on admissions work up and potential rapid turnover
Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary treatment team
BLS Healthcare Provider certification is required
Position Details:
Facility Hospitalizations: Acute, Adult, Inpatient wards (male & female)
Facility Demographics: Forensic, NGRI, Civil, Jail Transfer, and Geriatric populations
Facility Stay: Short and Long-term length of stay
Caseload varies by ward and assignment (40-45)
Psychiatry coverage is provided
Full complement of interdisciplinary team members
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsible for patient care that includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of medical illnesses for adult and geriatric psychiatric inpatient population.
Serves as medical consultant to the attending psychiatrist/practitioner.
Completes admission medical assessments (including history and physical examinations, mental status examination) and entering admission orders.
Orders diagnostic/therapeutic tests and procedures.
Monitors patients' progress, including laboratory values and special procedures with appropriate follow-up or referrals as needed.
Consults with authorized representatives/legal guardians on patient medical status.
Collaborates with attending psychiatric practitioners if needed providing DSM-5 Diagnoses that are valid, complete, and supported by timely and appropriate assessment.
Provides coverage to the medical clinic, the admission suit to ensure the admission process is completed.
Prescribes medications at the lowest effective dose in accordance with rational clinical practices. Assesses and address medication side-effects and report adverse drug reactions.
Ensures timely and quality documentation (admissions, follow-up and annual, etc.) in patient records in accordance with policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and guidelines.
