ACP, Inc. is a prime contractor for major telecommunication and utility companies for network infrastructure buildouts and maintenance. We are looking for an experienced OSP Fiber Optic Splicer for full-time work in the Charlotte greater area. We require individuals with knowledge and experience with splicing single mode and multi-mode fiber optics. Individuals must demonstrate an understanding of fiber counts and colors and can trouble shoot and analyze DWDM, CWDM and SONET fiber links with light and optical power meters and an OTDR. Individuals require experience in splicing in midsheath and ringcut enclosures and extensive knowledge with ring topology.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Technician will drive a company splice truck/van to be dispatched to various sites for new deployments and troubleshooting the network. Technician will be splicing in burial and aerial enclosures and FDPs, troubleshooting and analyzing DWDM fiber links with a light source, optical power meters and an OTDR. Technician will be available to work day and or night shifts and occasional overnight travel. Individual will work as a team with other technicians and NOC personnel and report to field supervisors. Our technicians work in a fast paced and changing environment that requires problem solving abilities and extreme attention to details.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must have valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record Must be able to past full background check with no prior convictions Must have at least 5 years’ experience using a fusion splicer.
Must have at least 5 years’ experience using a OTDR and light meter.
Must be able to read prints and other types of engineering documents.
Must have the ability to install, terminate & test low voltage cables Must be able to work day or nights with occasional overnight travel. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be very conscientious, accurate, detail oriented and self-motivated. Must be proficient with Internet and MS Office applications Must be able to lift 60 lbs. and climb a ladder. Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America.
