    Job Description

    Are you a self-motivated HR COORDINATOR looking to join an established employer in the Houston area?  We are looking for a versatile and detail-oriented individual who will work with our team to provide high quality support to our employees.

    ABOUT THE COMPANY:

    ACT Pipe & Supply was started in 1976 and is the largest independently owned waterworks and fire protection distributor in Texas. The current owners purchased the company in 1989 with the intention of growing the business into new geographic territories and strategic markets. Today, ACT has 16 geographic sites across Texas.

    THE POSITION: 

    The HUMAN RESOURCE COORDINATOR will ensure compliance with all human resources and payroll policies and procedures.  This role performs functions related to employee relations, benefits administration, record maintenance, and Human Resource policy administration.

    Job responsibilities include:

    • Responsible for full payroll processing in Paylocity including running standard and custom reports from the payroll system
    • Manages benefits administration for all employees and dependents, including contact with benefit brokers, open enrollment and ACA reporting
    • Maintains current knowledge of and ensure compliance with various government regulations and employment laws such as labor relations, OSHA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, ADA, EEOC, wage and hour, etc. 
    • Serves as the primary point of contact for company employee issues and inquiries, including but not limited to payroll, benefits and interpreting company policies
    • Oversee the offer stage, new hire process, and on-boarding of new hires ensuring the execution of all pre-employment screening for all prospective hires
    • Assists with the Company 401(k) plan administration
    • Manage and organize employee benefit and personnel records, while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
    • Provides and maintains any FMLA required leave of absence paperwork
    • Responds to unemployment claims and participate in TWC hearings
    • Assists in coding monthly HR, benefit invoices for accounting
    • Oversees and completes all required HR reporting
    • Performs HR related filing
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

    • High school diploma or equivalent with some college or technical school coursework required
    • College degree in human resources or related field preferred
    • Minimum of three to four (3-4) years of progressive human resources experience
    • Prior payroll experience required
    • Experience with DOT regulated employees is a plus
    • Human resources certification (PHR) a plus

    DESIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

    • Detail oriented
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Self-driven and reliable
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
    • One to two years (1-2) experience with Paylocity or similar payroll system preferred
    • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
