JOB TITLE: Purchasing Manager

LOCATION: (ADS HQ) Virginia Beach, Virginia

LEVEL: Experienced

PURPOSE: Our Mission at ADS Inc. is to actively seek our customers' equipment and logistical challenges and deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions. As we focus on growing our business, our Purchasing Manager is responsible for all facets of daily purchasing operations to meet and sustain departmental objectives and initiatives with significant focus on accurate initial promise dates and on time delivery. As the ADS Purchasing Manager, you will be given all the tools to become an expert at maintaining processes that will ensure the warfighter receives the equipment they need on time, because every hero deserves to come home.

JOB FUNCTIONS: While continually learning, collaborating, and partnering with all your Purchasing and Planning team members, together you will track supplier compliance, facilitate supplier improvement plans, and assess effectiveness after implementation. You will become the primary contact at ADS for all Purchasing related business in your department. While at ADS HQ, you will facilitate the development of productive relationships between buyers, suppliers, and internal sales and category personnel. This is a supervisory role and the Purchasing Manager is responsible for the professional development and performance of the Purchasing and Planning team.

AS THE PURCHASING MANAGER, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR...

• Departmental productivity and performance to include allocation of work, assignment of goals, objectives and projects
• Developing and maintain purchasing department staff and infrastructure to facilitate timely purchase order placement and management.
• Supervising, developing, training, and evaluating purchasing staff performance.
• Build and foster relationships with strategic suppliers to ensure fulfillment of company requirements and objectives.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS: The Purchasing and Planning Team and your success as the Purchasing Manager will be measured by customer and supplier satisfaction, meeting and exceeding on-time delivery expectations, effective supplier improvement plans, team performance, and successful PO management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Individual workstation
• Occasional weekends, holidays, and after business hours during peak season (September January)

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree (High level purchasing management experience may be substituted at hiring manager's discretion)
• Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience, management experience, or ADS Sales experience
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated success in leading projects and teams
• Knowledge of Purchasing and Supply Chain systems
• Prior experience with Microsoft Power BI or other data analytics software a plus
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Must be utterly committed to providing legendary customer service
• Ability to organize resources and establish priorities involving complex tasks and multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prior experience with Oracle Procurement
• Prior experience with Salesforce
• Demonstrated success in developing supplier or customer and stakeholder relationships
• Understanding of government contracts, defense procurement and relevant purchasing methods desired
