ADVANCED CONTROLS ENGINEER
The opportunity
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer with field experience to work out of our Sugar Grove, IL plant.
The Advanced Controls Engineer will be responsible for Electrical Machine Design, all aspects of machine programming, and debug of all machine controls. We are looking for motivated self-starters to join our growing team.
Responsibilities:
· Develop electrical and controls system design solutions based on Franklin’s standard engineering principles
· Interpret client requirements, identify and address design parameters and engineering problems and ensure solutions are implemented accurately and within budget
· Work closely with Franklin’s controls programmer to develop and maintain standardized machine control platforms; perform actual machine wiring and debug on as needed basis
· Provide comprehensive project documentation in the form of machine sequences to programmer(s)
· Create and finalize designs to meet project requirements
· Create accurate detailed Bill of Materials
· Actively participate in both internal and customer design reviews for all assigned projects
· Build complex automation as designed with a focus on electrical and pneumatic systems including panel layout and wiring, panel to machine wiring and machine pneumatics
· Integrate automation devices with machine control including Servo Drives, Robots, Label machines, dispensers, leak testers, vision systems, etc
· Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed
· Install and Commission machines onsite at customer facilities
· Create customer documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings
Skills:
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Excellent problem solving and time management skills
· Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge
· Knowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware and software
· Background in automation engineering preferred
Minimum Requirements: · A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or similar related degree)
· 4 - 6 years related job experience
· Valid Driver’s License
· Proficient with MS Office, Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000, SolidWorks
· Strong fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design and its application in automated industrial designs including specification of vision, power, sensor, inspection, and communications systems
