#2403 Field Engineer (FE40) - (Auxiliaries)
Role and Responsibilities:
Full Time position supporting the Self Defense Test Ship (SDTS) filling a Field
Engineer position as an Auxiliary System Electrical Technician and mechanical Assistant on the SDTS. The
SDTS is located at NSWC Port Hueneme, California.
Position Qualifications:
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 7-9’ experience or no degree and equivalent
combination and training and applicable auxiliary systems experience.
• Must have experience with York and Carrier Air conditioning units 100 tons or more.
• Must have experience with auxiliary’s equipment including HPAC, LPAC, Hydraulic Units and all types of
refrigeration equipment.
• EPA Universal Certificate is required
• Must be able to use electronic test equipment (i.e., multi-meter, o-scope) for troubleshooting.
• Must be able to work independent, completing onboard maintenance requirements.
• Must be able to read and understand EOSS procedures and troubleshoot electrical equipment to
determine root cause failure modes.
• Must have experience and competence in US Navy Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
• Must be able to support overnight underway evolutions (includes regular housekeeping/cleaning).
• Must be able to take log readings and stand underway watches.
• Must have basic computer Microsoft Office skills (i.e., word processing, spreadsheets, data entry)
• Must be able to pass shipboard firefighting certification and serve on ship’s Damage Control Fire Party.
• Have a valid driver’s license with own transportation.
• Must have no criminal record and able to satisfactorily complete background check.
• Must be able to work under minimal supervision, perform and complete tasks with limited guidance.
• Able to follow company policies and procedures.
• Able to write, speak and understand English and able to write clear, detailed reports.
Preferred Skills:
• Shipboard Fire Fighting Training
• Any Auxiliaries type “C” School
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to climb up and down the shipboard vertical ladders.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must be able to pass Shipboard Fire Party School.
• Must be able to get underway to support mission operations.
