    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to be based in New York, New York.

    This position is expected to begin June 2024.

    The internship – Electrical Engineer Intern will join the Transportation team and can work on projects involving design of power and extra low voltage networks, as well as substations, street lighting etc.

    • Develop designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, and project models as per specific discipline requirement. Work on drawings under the supervision of an experienced Engineer.
    • Assist with the design content by applying both design and technical knowledge to ensure high-quality outputs under project timelines.
    • Under Supervision, perform work following the agreed-upon budget and schedule.
    • When required, collect, and analyze information from specific discipline and interdisciplinary project BIM models.
    • Use computer software as a tool for solving fundamental engineering problems.
    • Coordinate with other discipline Engineers as applicable for the continuity of the design process.
    • Participate in design progress and coordination meetings.
    • Check and ensure the quality of model production by BIM/CAD teams for accuracy to design instructions.
    • Actively seek information, opportunities to participate and contribute, and develop efficiencies and effectiveness.
    • Contribute by solving problems and applying experience or theoretical knowledge to atypical assignments.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or Civil Engineering with a focus on Electrical Engineering
    • Must have completed 2 years of study by the start of the internship

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Capable of using spreadsheets, word processing, and standard office software
    • Basic knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)
    • Studying for Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)

    Additional Information

    • Independent relocation is required for candidates inquiring outside of NYC and NYC metropolitan.
    • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
    • Non-Exempt Position - The hourly rate range for this position is between $23.00-31.00 per hour.
