  • Responsibilities

    Develop designs for complex systems. Prepare technical reports. Participate in the development of design standards and procedures. Perform technical review of design documents and specifications.

    Development of complex designs using creative and innovative approaches. Apply technical experience in field of specialization to resolve complex problems. Provide leadership in the development of construction installation specifications, procurement specifications, and associated bid analysis. Incorporate advanced technical practices and creative solutions in resolving field problems and nonconformance reports. Perform in-depth analyses of advanced technical concepts and devises new approaches to technical problems. Provide lead role over design team members for very complex tasks.

    Provide staff augmentation services to plan, develop, prioritize, coordinate, implement, and complete the process to renew the following Certificates of Authorization for the SRNS pressure relief valve test and repair facilities:

    • ASME U – Manufacture of pressure vessels at field sites.
    • National Board R – Repair and/or alteration of boilers, pressure vessels, and other pressure-retaining items
    • National Board VR – Repair of pressure relief valves

    In addition, provide support to obtain a National Board Certificate of Accreditation designating SRNS as a Federal Inspection Agency.

    Specific activities include preparation of the formal application for renewal, review of quality system manuals, coordination of on-site assessment meetings and shop visits for demonstrations of capabilities, management briefings, etc.

    Education: An Associate’s degree in a technical discipline and at least 12 - 14 years work experience OR 14 - 18 years of practical work experience.

    Experience/Skills: Requires an in-depth knowledge of engineering systems, applications, calculations, materials, construction methods, and relevant computer applications. Applies advanced principles and practices in engineering to resolve problems identified by construction organizations in a timely manner. Updating on new technologies and hardware in the industry is necessary.

    Experience/Skills: (Specific for the Posting)

    The following experience/skills are required for this position:

    • In-depth knowledge of the accreditation/certification process associated with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Code Certificate of Authorization Program and the National Board “R’ and VR” Certificate of Authorization Programs
    • Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards for the construction, installation, repair, maintenance, and inspection of pressure equipment such as ASME BPV Code Sections and the NBIC and National Board procedures.
    • Previously performed re-certification audits of pressure relief valve test and repair facilities with the National Board
    • Previously performed re-certification audits for facilities using the U-Stamp and R-Stamp.
    • Ability to present results in clear concise written correspondence and documents.
    • Successful completion of the National Board Authorized Inspector and In-service Inspection courses. • In-depth knowledge of NB-23, NB-244, NB-263, NB-381, and NB-390 requirements.
