      Position:

      Our client provides reinsurance of asset intensive policies such as annuities, issued in the United States and Asia, and has a strong commitment to underwriting discipline and financial strength. Reporting to the Chief Actuary, the Senior Actuary is a strategic leader and a key member of the actuarial team. The Senior Actuary will have responsibility for a broad range of tasks including valuation, modeling, and reporting. In addition, the role will support the Chief Actuary with various tasks including financial analysis, capital planning and regulatory reporting. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with technical proficiency and the ability to drive change, navigating ambiguity and producing commercial results. This position will be based in Indianapolis (Hybrid, 3 days a week).

       

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Perform quarterly actuarial valuation and annual assumption setting process
      • Support the actuarial aspects of financial reporting, business planning projections as well as regulatory filings
      • Performing in-depth experience analysis on life and annuity decrements and policyholder behavior
      • Support interactions with external auditors and the external Approved Actuarial team.
      • In coordination with the Chief Risk Officer work to implement the design and documentation of actuarial controls and critical actuarial risk governance policies
      • Review and validate MG-ALFA valuation outputs including asset and liability cashflows
      • Analyze and explain quarterly changes in statutory reserves
      • Facilitate monthly reinsurance settlement process, reviewing for accuracy and completeness
      • Other ad hoc projects and tasks as required

      Minimum Requirements, Skills & Experience:

      • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, etc.
      • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or equivalent designation
      • 7 years’ post fellowship actuarial experience with a strong preference for annuity reinsurance and asset modeling exposure
      • Knowledge of key financial reporting, accounting, and solvency regimes, including Bermuda Monetary Authority and / or Cayman Islands Monetary Authority regulations and Solvency II, US GAAP, US Statutory, and US tax
      • Experience with actuarial valuation software such as MG-ALFA required, experience in programing and systems automation a plus
      • Experience with actuarial valuation process design, controls, and automation preferred
      • Previous experience in valuation of annuity products or blocks of policies a plus
      • Familiarity with fixed deferred annuities (FIA, MYGA)
      • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with sound judgement and decision-making
      • Able and willing to work on multiple projects and meet tight deadlines as needed

      • Position located in Indianapolis (Hybrid: in office Tuesday - Thursday). Actuarial exam support.
