  • Responsibilities

    Founded in the early 1980s, Valley distributes fresh produce and specialty products to foodservice customers from its facility near Knoxville, Tennessee.

    Valley Produce is built on a strong family-owned culture with second-generation family members actively involved in the business today.

    Essential Functions:

    • Service existing accounts, obtains orders, and establishes new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales outlets.
    • Increase customer sales in accordance with objectives.
    • Maintain up-to-date awareness of company activities, industry trends and government regulations.
    • Report daily activities on a consistent basis to the Area Sales Manager.
    • Train new representatives on the company’s sales policies and procedures as needed.
    • Communicate with the inside sales department and the transportation department to meet customer delivery requirements.
    • Communicate with night operations and buyers to meet customer needs.
    • Occasionally deliver items as needed by customers.
    • Provide customer service duties as necessary and required.
    • Maintain insurability on the company’s commercial auto policy to service existing and new accounts at customer locations.

    Competencies, Education, and Skills:

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent
    • At least 3 years successful related sales experience with an understanding and knowledge of produce food service-related products
    • Proficient PC skills in Microsoft Office and common E-Mail systems
    • Hold a valid driver’s license
    • Maintain insurability on company’s commercial auto insurance program
    • Start-Up Smart (willing to do what’s needed whenever and wherever needed)
    • Intellectual horsepower (highly analytical & strategic)
    • Highly resourceful (stretches people and money; compresses time)
    • Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills (high EQ)
    • Influencing skills (proven ability to persuade others towards an idea or goal)
    • Negotiation skills (proven ability to seek and close the right deals)

    Compensation Structure:

    • $45,000 - $55,000 (Base salary) + Bonus

    ** Physical Demands:**

    • Occasionally lift up to 25lbs
    • Stand or sit for long periods of time
    • Tavel as needed and required
