Job Summary
Takes responsibility for portfolios of Fiscal department work with systems such as payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable or others. Collaboratively develops and maintains processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with a variety of regulations and policies; maintains close communications with more senior Fiscal staff to coordinate activities. The Accountant I supports the financial operations of KCR by maintaining accurate financial records, aggregating and analyzing data, preparing reports, and ensuring the application of accounting standards and regulations.

Job Requirements
Required Education/Experience/Health:
- Required Education: AA degree plus 2 years of experience OR 5 years of experience in related field.
- Bi-lingual preferred, Spanish a plus.
- Demonstrated successful experience in administering one or more portfolios (A/P, A/R, or P/R) and analyzing data to identify discrepancies.
- Ability to pass State and/or Federal Background Checks as determined by position (prior to hire date).
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Must demonstrate recognition and compassion for low-income peoples.
- Demonstrated ability to input, aggregate and analyze data including generation of accurate and complete reports.
- Strong personal and task organization and time-management skills.
- Effective communication and demonstrated ability to work within a team with rapidly changing priorities and assignments.
- Demonstrated ability to perceive and follow complex instructions for high volume work while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
License(s) and/or Certifications:
- Valid Washington State Driver's License.
- Ability to obtain proof of insurability for operating an automobile.
Essential Physical and Mental Functions
- Position requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, twisting, and bending.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds, with or without assistance.
- Simple grasping and hand manipulation required as well as reaching above and below shoulder level.
- Cognitive ability to discern accuracy and apply to high volume work as necessary.
- Cognitive and physical ability to successfully operate a personal computer with a wide variety of applications (e.g., Excel, Word, other accounting software).
- Cognitive ability to aggregate, input, and analyze data and produce accurate reports in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities- Included but are not limited to
- Accurately input financial data into accounting software and databases.
- Utilize a variety of software applications to capture, manage and analyze data accurately.
- Prepare detailed and accurate information for administration and staff including data entry, analysis, data displays, reports etc.
- Organize and manage records and filing.
- Ensure the timely collection/deposit, disbursement of funds, checks and other instruments.
- Handle incoming payments, including generating invoices, tracking payment status, and following up with vendor, employee and funder accounts.
- Support the administration of various programs by managing budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring compliance with funding requirement
- Foster positive relationships with staff by addressing financial inquiries and providing support for KCR accounting practices and processes.
- Ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
