    Kenny Habetz Injury Law is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to manage financial transactions and coordinate settlement disbursements within our fast-paced legal environment. Reporting to the Business Operations Manager, this in-office role is ideal for a recent college graduate eager to grow, with the potential to transition to a hybrid position after six months. The Accountant will maintain accurate financial records, ensure compliance with trust account regulations, and support smooth financial operations, making this a great opportunity for someone passionate about contributing to a dedicated team in a dynamic legal setting. Responsibilities: Financial Record-Keeping and Transaction Management • Record all financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments. • Post information to accounting journals and QuickBooks with accuracy and attention to detail. • Maintain general ledger entries, ensuring all accounts are balanced and reconciled regularly. • Prepare and process checks, deposits, and wire transfers. • Reconcile bank statements and ensure accuracy in all financial reports. Settlement Coordination • Manage the entire settlement process from client notification through final disbursement. • Prepare detailed settlement documentation, including breakdowns and itemized reports for clients. • Work closely with attorneys and paralegals to gather all necessary information for settlement disbursements. • Communicate clearly with clients regarding settlement timelines, required documents, and disbursement details. • Ensure compliance with trust account guidelines and legal standards for settlement funds, following strict procedures for handling these accounts. Compliance and Audit Preparation • Ensure compliance with financial policies and regulatory requirements, including proper handling of trust and operating accounts. • Assist in financial audits by preparing necessary documentation and ensuring accuracy. • Regularly review and update financial policies to stay aligned with legal and regulatory changes. Reporting and Financial Analysis • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to support strategic decision-making. • Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide insights for process improvements. • Participate in budgeting and forecasting to aid in financial planning for future growth. Administrative Support and Team Collaboration • Maintain organized and accurate financial records for all transactions and settlements. • Act as a financial resource for internal team members, addressing inquiries and providing support where needed. • Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth and timely financial operations. • Communicate regularly with the team regarding updates on settlements and other financial matters. Qualifications: • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, related field, or 5 years equivalent experience. • Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience, preferably within a legal setting. • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite. • Strong knowledge of trust accounting and legal settlement processes. • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive financial information. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration and client interaction.
