    Job Summary

Join our team at Investment Properties Inc., a Real Estate Investment/Asset Management Company in Rockville, Maryland. Established in 1969, we are a small dynamic company looking for an accomplished accountant who will oversee all financial activities, liaise with partners, tax advisors, and financial institutions. If you are looking for an alternative to a large, corporate, cubicle environment and prefer a small, nimble company of self-motivated individuals, Investment Properties is for you.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and paid via salary or 1099 for those who prefer independent contract work. We estimate a time commitment of approximately 24 hours per week. This is an estimate since we recently outsourced property management, which has reduced the day-to-day responsibilities for this role. Note hours may be more initially and less over time depending on your efficiency.

Should you seek to expand your workload and responsibilities into other areas of real estate asset management/development, there is opportunity to do so, but the desire to do so is not required.

    Qualifications

    · Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent preferred but not required.

    · 10+ years of experience in a financial/accounting role, preferably in commercial real estate operations.

    · Strong proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite, and financial reporting tools is essential.

    · Knowledge of payroll, tax preparation, and general financial management.

    · Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines.

    Summary of Responsibilities

    · Manage financial aspects of real estate partnerships such as recordation into QuickBooks of monthly financial activity, analyze statements, cash and bank account management, calculate tax exposure and quarterly distributions.

    · Provide regular cash flow and financial reporting to support the CEO & President.

    · Process and manage a small volume of office payables. Most payables are processed by the third-party property managers.

    · Manage payroll processing for 4-6 employees on a bi-weekly basis, including the payment of taxes to relevant authorities.

    · Review third-party property management reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.

    · Assemble tax return packages for all business entities and individuals. Coordinate with tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely filings.

    · Assist with the development and evaluation of long-term financial strategies for the office.
