Staff Accountant / Tax Preparer

📍 Location: Mission, TX (In-Person) ⏳ Job Type: Full-Time 💰 Pay: $12.00 - $23.00 per hour (based on experience) + Bonus Pay

About Us

Hector M. Rivera, EA is looking for a professional and experienced Staff Accountant/Tax Preparer to join our team. This position requires strong bookkeeping, accounting, and tax preparation skills. If you’re highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, we encourage you to apply!

Key Responsibilities

✔ Accounting & Bookkeeping:

Handle daily bookkeeping/accounting for various client transactions

Perform monthly bank reconciliations

Maintain, organize, and support financial records

Utilize various accounting software to perform essential tasks

Prepare and analyze financial statements, balance sheets, and P&L statements

✔ Tax Preparation & Compliance:

Prepare and file business and individual tax returns (1120, 1120S, 1065, & 1040)

Ensure compliance with federal and state tax regulations (TWC, 941, Sales Tax, etc.)

Identify tax-saving opportunities and provide recommendations

Stay up to date with changes in tax laws and best practices

✔ General Financial Support:

Assist in state and federal reporting requirements

Organize files and maintain compliance documentation

Prioritize and manage multiple projects to meet strict deadlines

Work independently and take initiative with minimal supervision

Skills & Qualifications

✅ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Required) ✅ 3+ years of accounting/tax preparation experience (Preferred) ✅ Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparation ✅ Experience with QuickBooks and accounting software ✅ Familiarity with state and federal tax filings ✅ Excellent verbal and written communication skills ✅ Highly organized, detail-oriented, and a strong multitasker ✅ Ability to work in-person in Mission, TX (must reliably commute or plan to relocate)

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):

➕ CPA or EA Certification (Preferred but not required)
