  • Responsibilities

    We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our team on a 6-month contract basis, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a full-time position. As an Accounting Assistant, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to our accounting team, managing purchasing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, and assisting with tax return filings. If you have experience with QuickBooks, a general knowledge of the US tax system, and excellent customer service skills, we encourage you to apply.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and purchasing
    • Assist with tax return filings, including preparation and review of tax returns, and communication with clients
    • Provide administrative support to the accounting team, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, and performing other tasks as needed
    • Maintain and reconcile financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements
    • Assist with budgeting and forecasting, including preparing financial reports and analyzing financial data
    • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders
    • Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as needed

    Requirements:

    • 1-2 years of experience in accounting or a related field
    • QuickBooks experience is required
    • General knowledge of the US tax system and tax return filings is required; tax return filing experience is a plus
    • Experience with MS Office products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, is highly desired
    • Customer service experience is a plus
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
    • Certification in an accounting software such as QuickBooks
    • Experience with other accounting software, such as Xero or Sage
    • Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including GAAP and financial reporting
