Job Overview
The Accounting Associate II position plays a key role in the efficient operations of the Accounting Department and will handle a variety of generalist accounting duties including compiling and reviewing financial information, reconciling accounts, and timely reporting of company financial results.
Accounting Responsibilities:
Maintain up-to-date and timely monthly or quarterly account reconciliations
Perform month-end close procedures such as updating reserves, assisting with issuing customer invoices and recording vendor invoices, creating, and adjusting accruals and deferred revenue, accruing tax liabilities, valuing inventory, and recording and adjusting fixed asset records, etc.
Record journal entries over a variety of accounts in the company’s general ledger and subledgers.
Record credit card purchase activity. Prepare and issue monthly statements to credit card holders. Collect and file receipts for credit card purchases. Maintain and share credit card purchasing policies and procedures with card users.
Report monthly sales data to external accountant for calculation of sales tax liabilities. Review the sales tax exemption status of customers and verify that exemption or resale certificates have been collected. Reconcile sales tax liability accounts.
Promote sound internal controls over financial reporting in anticipation of continued growth.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications:
At least two years in a professional accounting role or equivalent with understanding and experience in applying GAAP principles.
Possess a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar
Familiarity with computerized accounting systems such as NetSuite.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple assignments.
Interest in inventory costing (including standard costing) and revenue recognition.
Ability to work as a team player and promote a cooperative work environment.
Possess excellent organizational and communication skills. Demonstrate leadership traits and a willingness to tackle new challenges and build better processes.
