Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the Food & Beverage industry to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of accounting principles and processes within the food and beverage sector, including inventory management, cost controls, and vendor payments. This role is essential in supporting the accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency of our company.
Key Responsibilities:
• Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process invoices for food suppliers, equipment vendors, and other F&B-specific purchases. Match purchase orders, verify approvals, and manage payment schedules.
• Data Entry: Input financial data related to food costs, inventory purchases, and sales into accounting systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry-specific practices.
• Bank Reconciliations: Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, focusing on restaurant and catering revenues, credit card transactions, and tip distribution.
• Inventory Accounting: Assist in tracking and managing food and beverage inventory, ensuring accurate costing and reporting of stock levels.
• Expense Reports: Review and process employee expense reports, including travel, catering, and promotional expenses.
• General Ledger Support: Maintain the general ledger by recording transactions related to food and beverage costs, labor, and overheads. Prepare journal entries as necessary.
• Filing and Documentation: Maintain organized filing systems for financial records, receipts, vendor contracts, and supporting documentation, with attention to F&B-specific documentation (e.g., health certifications, supplier contracts).
• Assist with Audits: Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation, especially around inventory and cost controls.
• Communication: Work closely with vendors, restaurant managers, and other departments to resolve discrepancies, process payments, and ensure timely financial processing.
• Miscellaneous Tasks: Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as required by management, particularly related to the unique demands of the food and beverage industry.
Qualifications:
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or coursework in accounting or hospitality management is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the Food & Beverage industry.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Experience with inventory management and cost control practices within food and beverage operations.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to handle confidential financial information responsibly.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and reporting tools related to restaurant operations is a plus.
