    Matrix designs, manufactures, and sells innovative technological products that help keep people safe. Originally focused on the underground coal mining industry, Matrix has expanded into new industrial markets in the United States and globally.

    We are currently seeking an Accounting Intern. The Accounting Intern will work directly with company employees and management and be exposed to a variety of domestic and international accounting, finance, and general business processes throughout the company. The exposure is intentional and will allow the intern to evaluate which business operations are best suited for their skillset and likewise allow company management to evaluate the intern's ability to provide value in furthering company success. This position works in a team environment at our home office in Newburgh, IN. This is not a remote position. This is a paid internship.

    This position reports to either the Vice President of Manufacturing or the Business Process Manager.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Completion of company overview training.

    • Management of assigned projects.

    • Assist with month-end accounting closing and resulting reconciliation process.

    • Assist with demand planning and purchasing process.

    • Assist with physical inventory counts.

    • Assist with custom reporting and presentation development.

    • Assist with improving multi-system reconciliation processes.

    • Assist with documenting processes via narratives and flowcharts.

    • Assist with researching and documenting company business development initiatives.

    • Assist Administration with any duties deemed suitable.

    Qualifications & Competencies

    • Accounting, Finance, or Business degree candidate.

    • Good knowledge of Excel, Word, and Power Point.

    • Good problem-solving and analysis skills.

    • Good oral and written communication skills.

    • High level of organization and detail-orientation.

    • Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative.

    • Good attitude toward teamwork as well as the ability to work independently.

    • Good ability to multitask and prioritize.

    • Good time management.

    Working Conditions

    • The general working conditions for this position are an office environment. It will be necessary from time to time to visit the warehouse where safety precautions will need to be taken. While in the office, the noise level is usually low. However, the noise level can be low to moderate in the warehouse.

    Physical Requirements

    The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, or crouch. The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
