    The Accounting Manager will oversee the accounting and reporting functions for commercial lending. This position involves working closely with the team to review and prepare monthly journal entries, as well as reconcile roll-forward reports and account balances. The role also includes managing monthly reporting, providing explanations for variances between actuals, prior month figures, and budget plans, and preparing quarterly and annual financial schedules and footnote disclosures. Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet department deadlines are essential.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Supervise and review accounting entries for assigned areas, ensuring they comply with company policies and GAAP, while also updating policies as needed.
    • Review loan agreements to ensure accurate GAAP accounting, reporting, and servicing, including interest and fee calculations.
    • Oversee the boarding of loans into the Loan Accounting System and Loan Servicing Module, and review monthly reports and reconciliations between subsystems and the general ledger.
    • Collaborate with the Portfolio Management and Loan Servicing teams to ensure timely loan collections and accurate quarterly reporting.
    • Work closely with the Treasury Department to ensure accurate interest accrual reporting on repo facilities, and prepare monthly expense analyses.
    • Prepare monthly derivative entries and track changes in foreign currency exchange rates.
    • Provide detailed explanations for monthly variances between actual results, prior periods, and planned figures for Flash meetings.
    • Prepare journal entries and the monthly reporting package for Distributable Earnings (DE).
    • Present financial data at monthly DE and Flash meetings.
    • Prepare and review quarterly and year-end financial schedules and footnotes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
    • Identify and recommend improvements to processes and workflows.
    • Assist with special projects and requests as needed.

    Education and Experience:

    • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
    • CPA certification required
    • 5+ years of accounting experience, with 4-5 years at a Big 4 public accounting firm

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, with preference for financial services experience
    • High attention to detail, with strong analytical and communication skills
    • Proficient in MS Excel and MS Word
