Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations, including entering journals, managing accounts receivable and payable. The Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller ensures timely reconciliation and reporting of various financial information for the Director and other key stakeholders as requested; and maintains fiscal records. The Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller serves as the primary contact for internal staff on invoicing, bill payments, cash receipts and revenue. This position also implements and trains staff to use software that streamlines processes and improves distribution and accessibility of financial information.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintains all aspects of the operational accounting functions, overseeing all transactions related to the general ledger, various bank accounts, and financial reporting while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Maintains and reconciles all intercompany transactions and allocations and properly reports to the Corporate office.
- Assists with analyzing and reporting on the company's monthly financial performance with respect to margin, sales reporting, customer trends and deductions, production costs and ad hoc analysis to senior management
- Responsible for balance sheet account reconciliations with a thorough understanding of the balances
- Ownership of the monthly and annual accrual accounts, syncing all cut-off activities (including WIP) and tracking and management of intercompany shipments to ensure accurate elimination.
- Assists with developing and maintaining all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting. Ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with GAAP and IFRS.
- Assisting the senior leadership team in financial planning and results management. Work with other team members to understand revenue and cost drivers and define appropriate reports for tracking
- Oversees maintenance and accuracy of BOMs, standard costs and inventory control. Ensures proper processes and procedures are in place and manages cost savings initiatives to drive margin.
- Assists with coordinating, preparing, and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Other finance and administrative duties as required such as supporting internal and external audit, investment analysis and capital spending requests.
- Prepare and assist with monthly cash transactions for cash forecasting assistance
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance needed
- Master’s degree, CPA, or CMA, is a plus
- 5+ years’ experience preferred.
- Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Strong financial reporting skills and able to efficiently and effectively understand and accurately plan the P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities & deadlines
- Proficiency in ERP systems and proficient MS Excel skills.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP
- IFRS knowledge would be a plus
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
