Accounting Manager
Tucson Jewish Community Center (Tucson J)
Hours : Full-time, approximately 40+ hours per week (some flexibility as needed)
Reports To : Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Salary : $60,000 - $65,000 per year

Position Overview
The Accounting Manager plays a key role in ensuring the financial health and integrity of the Tucson J. Reporting to the CFO, this position is responsible for overseeing accounting functions, financial reporting, and internal controls while contributing to process improvements and departmental cross-training.
Key Responsibilities
Department Support & Training: Assist and train employees within the Accounting Department. (Approximately 5 hours per week)
Financial Management: Prepare and maintain accounting records, including the general ledger, financial statements, payroll, accounts payable, membership records, program records, tax returns, billings, and collections. (Approximately 5 hours per week)
Cash Flow & Budgeting: Monitor, analyze, and forecast weekly, monthly, and annual cash flow. (Approximately 5 hours per week)
Variance Analysis: Review monthly budget-to-actual variances, investigate and resolve significant differences. (Approximately 5 hours per week)
Account Reconciliation: Review balance sheet account reconciliations and journal entries prepared by the Accountant. (Approximately 2 hours per week)
Operational Coding: Ensure proper coding for fundraising campaigns, program setups, and other financial operations in Daxko. (Approximately 2 hours per week)
Audit Assistance: Support annual independent financial statement and 401(k) plan audits by preparing necessary schedules and documentation.
Process Improvement & Internal Controls: Assist in developing and documenting procedures that enhance financial management and internal controls in accordance with GAAP. (Estimated 5 hours per week in the first year)
2025 Maccabi Games Accounting & Reporting: Oversee financial tracking and reporting for the event. (Estimated 4 hours per week through August 2025)
Capital Project Reporting: Assist in tracking and reporting on capital projects.
Grant Support: Work with the grant writer to provide financial information for grant applications. (Approximately 2 hours per week)
Regulatory Compliance: Oversee billing and filing requirements with state and federal agencies.
Insurance & Audits: Prepare documents for annual commercial insurance renewals and workers' compensation audits.
Internal Collaboration: Serve as a key member of the Tzevet team (middle management), working cooperatively with staff across departments. (Approximately 1 hour per week)
Member Support: Assist members with their accounts and resolve financial concerns as needed. (Approximately 1 hour per week)
Technology & Automation: Assist with software upgrades and automation initiatives.
Special Projects: Support various financial and operational projects as needed. (Approximately 2 hours per week)
Bank Deposits: Take bank deposits as needed. (Approximately 0.5 hours per week)
Qualifications
3-5 years of accounting experience (nonprofit accounting experience preferred but not required)
Degree in accounting or a related field
Proficiency in accounting and donor database software, Microsoft Office
Experience with modern financial technology and automation
Ability to thrive in a fast-changing environment, contribute to process improvements, and maintain strong internal controls
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Positive, team-oriented attitude
Preferred: Knowledge of/experience (1-3 years) with nonprofit accounting
Preferred: CPA or public accounting experience

This is a full time/exempt, professional position and is covered by the Code of Personnel Practices of the Tucson Jewish Community Center.
