Accounting Manager – Job Duties

You will directly oversee the accounting team, working in both a supervisory / leader role as well as performing hands on technical accounting.

• Oversee the work of the accounting team including oversight and review of payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable and general ledger accounting, serving as escalation point for team questions and as hands-on back up when needed
• Provide direct leadership and mentorship of team members – performance check ins, coaching conversations, accountability, career development, participating in hiring
• Perform month end close procedures including journal entries, monthly account reconciliations and closing journal entries (8 day close)
• Develop and document best-practices policies and procedures for the accounting department functions, documenting SOPs
• Gather accounting documentation required for third-parties (annual audit, banking)
  

Accounting Manager - Required Skills, Experience & Culture Alignment

You are:

• Experienced in managing, leading and mentoring team members – you enjoy reviewing work, inspiring performance, accountability and training
• A technical accountant - GAAP accounting, journal entries, you know your debits and credits
• Self-directed and gritty – you thrive in an entrepreneurial environment where you can go find the answer, make things better and troubleshoot challenges
• An expert with MS Excel and experienced with exporting and manipulating data in Excel including complex formulas, multi-tab spreadsheets, pivot tables, v-lookups
• You bring professional maturity – challenges are opportunities to solve problems and make things better, you do what you say when you say, “crisis” isn’t part of your vocabulary
• Able to work 100% in office (start and stop time is flexible)
  

Accounting Manager – You Might Have (Desired, Not Required)

• Experience working with SAP Business One ERP software
• Prior experience in a manufacturing, cost accounting or retail accounting environment
• Prior experience in public accounting / auditing
