    Insero Talent Solutions is recruiting an Accounting Manager for a dynamic, private wealth management firm in Rochester, NY.

    The Accounting Manager will play a critical leadership role on the accounting team and be responsible for overseeing accounting processes and providing guidance to accounting team members in addition to being responsible for accounting records of multiple entities in a partnership-based software primarily used in the family office space. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with a strong accounting background with at least five years of experience. A broad base knowledge related to general accounting processes and procedures is required as well as a strategic mindset as this individual will work directly with the accounting team to coach, advise and review, while also being in the accounting software processing, coding, reconciling and reviewing transactions on a daily basis. The ability to maintain confidentiality regarding transactions is essential.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    • In collaboration with the VP, Accounting, lead and oversee daily accounting processes and operations, including journal entries, account reconciliations and management of general ledger entries for various entities and family holdings.
    • Prepare and import excel templates that serve as batch uploads to the accounting software.
    • Generate and review monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adhering to internal accounting guidelines.
    • Provide technical guidance on accounting for complex transactions.
    • Stay up to date on system enhancements and releases to ensure efficient processes.
    • Monitor and review the accounting team’s work to ensure accurate processing of routine and complex transactions and the books and records reflect all relevant activity for the period.
    • Analyze and interpret financial statements and provide analytical commentary for end-users such as internal management and family members.
    • Develop and document internal processes and procedures for daily transactions and month-end close.
    • Collaborate with other departments (such as legal and operations) to ensure cohesive management of the family office’s activities.
    • Analyze and review third party reports for accuracy and provide timely feedback.
    • Coordinate and interface with third parties (e.g. outside tax preparer) as needed.
    • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
    • Additional duties required.


    Education/Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. CPA designation preferred.
    • Minimum five years of progressive accounting experience, with at least one in a managerial role.

     

    Skills/Qualifications

    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
    • Proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting tools, including ability to learn how to utilize an accounting software that is partnership centric
    • Advanced Excel skills
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to execute complex accounting transactions
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
    • High ethical standards and a commitment to confidentiality and discretion
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple entities in a fast-paced environment
    • Comfortable working in a dynamic, changing environment

    $90,000-$100,000 per year
