TITLE: Accounting Manager
DEPARTMENT: Finance
CAMPUS: Vacaville/Central
HOURS: Full-Time, 40 hours per week
PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
The Accounting Manager oversees and manages the accounting department’s day-to-day operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records, preparing financial reports, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports directly to the Finance Director
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
FINANCIAL REPORTING
· Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for review.
· Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial performance and position.
ACCOUNTING OPERATIONS
· Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
· Oversee donor contributions and organization revenues.
· Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
· Coordinate and review general ledger activities, including account reconciliations.
· Manage month end and general ledger close process.
COMPLIANCE AND CONTROL
· Ensure adherence to accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
· Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and maintain accuracy.
· Coordinate and assist with external audits and regulatory filings.
TEAM MANAGEMENT
· Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support.
· Conduct performance evaluations and identify training needs.
· Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
BUDGETING AND FORECASTING
· Assist in the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets.
PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
· Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
· Implement best practices and innovative solutions to streamline accounting processes.
COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION
· Work closely with other departments to provide financial insights and support.
· Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of [5] years of accounting experience, including [2] years in a supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
