Nature and Scope
This position will be involved in the revenue process, the raw material inventory process, the procurement to payment process, and month end close. The candidate must be capable of problem identification and resolution. The position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, understanding of the chart of accounts, and the ability to utilize software. Strong written & verbal communication skills are also necessary to effectively communicate with customers and employees at all levels.
BILLING / AR DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Prepare daily check deposits and applications
- Customer contact regarding collection
- Cash balancing
- Back up resource to:
- Weekly invoicing
- Process credit memos and other required adjustments
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Review invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
- Invoice entry for PO invoices and direct pay invoices
- Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies
- Assist with other projects as needed
- Back up resource to:
- Process weekly check runs, and ACH runs
- Process check requests
- Respond to vendor inquiries
OTHER DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Month end close functions such as journal entries and reconciliations
- Prepare monthly USGS (United States Geological Survey) report
- Raw Material entry into Microsoft Excel database
- Provide information for internal and external audits
- Other general accounting duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 2+ years of accounting experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required, college courses in accounting preferred
- Able to remain stationary and operate a computer at a desk for hours at a time
- Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, experience with accounting information system(s), and10-key by touch
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles a plus
- Must have a strong work ethic, be well organized and a self-starter
- Must be reliable and detail oriented with strong skills in problem solving, documentation, research and resolution, and multi-tasking
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to interact with customers and vendors in a professional manner
- Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
